this harps team is very young, and it will take a few years to reach their full potential. It is a big step up  to senior level, their time wil come.

From an outsider's point of view the same things have been said for 5 or 6 years now, and you don't seem any closer to gathering up a team capable of winning (or even finishing second to Cross) a county championship.

You're quite right Joe. Those with long memories who have been around this Board a while, will remember how pleased I was in 2003 when, despite losing to Cross in the semi-final by four points, we gave them a good run for their money. That was a very young Harps team, and the future appeared bright.

That bright future has faded, and the problems that have caused those prospects to fade are not uniquely Harps' problems. They are society issues that have seen teams like Clans fall away badly.

Our minor team won the Ulster Minor Club Championship as recently as New Year's Day 2004. That same age group played Cross in last year's Under 21 semi-final and were beaten out the gate. Having seen that game, I would have no difficulty in believing that Cross will win twenty Senior Championships in a row!

Iron Fist

Some people appear to have very high expectations of this harps team.At the moment they are strugglingin the forward line, due to not having many naturally scoring forwards.Wee Joe and Kevin Kelly are their main threats and both of them are carrying injuries.Where do you think the harps scoring threat will come from. Tir na Og will be a stern test

Excellent victory for the Harps in Portadown this afternoon. It was hard fought throughout, but the Harps held on for a one point victory by 0-16 to 0-15.

Best for the Harps, in what was a great team effort, were Joe Quigley, Kevin Kelly, Martin McCoy and Harpo McKenna.

Hopefully this is the wee lift that the Harps need to get a good run going in the league.

A full report of the game will be in the Seniors Section of our website later this evening.

Iron Fist

Yes it was a good victory today, Nippy Swift had a good game in the middle of the park. From Guff right through to Harpo the harps had lifted their game, Even though the referee didnt give the harps to much, the lads held on for a good morale boosting win.

Good to see the Harps have resumed their winning ways, just one thing owever, is the standard of referring that bad or have people just become used to complaining about the officials?

maybe it is time they had two refs, one for each half, some of them are not able to keep up with play and then make bad decisions!
Armagh, the one true love of a mans life.

Just a note to remind members that anyone interested in tickets for the forthcoming Ulster Championship match in Ballybofey, should give their names, in writing, to Don Richards by May 20th.

Please pass this on to fellow members!

Took a trip to see the game against cross. vernon had his best game in a while. what has happened to joe quigley? he carried no scoring threat at all. i was disappointed at how easily harps bowed the knee to cross given it was a championship dress rehearsal.

??? ??? ???

Surely!
I'll go back if Marsdens back

Armagh Cúchulainns

Just your average table quiz spirit, theres the usual picture and sports rounds, no limit to teams, which, i think are picked on the night should be good craic. From what ive heard a good mixture of the young and old.

******

Just a mention for Conor Coulter when playing for the minors last night against Perase Ogs, had to retire due to a head injury caused by an accidental onfield collision. Hope you get better soon.
