Those are all big losses, especially O'Carroll. Still Id say we should have enough to avoid relegation at least. Looks like a very competitive division.

The GAA should come up with new central membership scheme. So instead of paying a membership fee each year to your club you would sign up via GAA.

There would be different types of membership packages but by being a GAA member you get the subscription to GAA Go included (if desired, cheaper version if you dont). Part of the fee goes directly to the subscribers chosen club, given clubs have large diasporas abroad this could be very beneficial financially to clubs and the GAA as a whole. For example I live abroad and have no real link to my club but if I wanted to view GAA Go and could support my old club at the same time Id be glad to do so.

I also think RTE waste a lot of money on analysis and interviews, I think a Commentator and co-commentator are fine for each game, Clubber do this and it works reasonably well.

Quote from: gallsman on November 23, 2024, 05:07:36 PMDunsany lads I've spoken to are full of praise for Kilcavan.

A great year for such a small club and the best of luck to them in intermediate next year.

Gutted for Kilcavan but hats off to Dunsany, they stormed out of the blocks in the second half and that period they hit 5 on the bounce was the crucial part of the game. The loss of captain Evan Hunt was a mssive blow, not saying it would have changed the result but he was sorely missed in that second half.
I also thought their subs had a big impact on the game and seemed to have more strength in depth compared to Kilcavan in that regard. Both teams gave it everything and left it all on the field so not complaints about the result.

As you said its been a fantastic year for Kilcavan, its a young side that have made huge strides in their development this season and have done the club and their families proud.

Best of luck to Dunsany in the Leinster final.

Quote from: Laois Rising on November 18, 2024, 05:18:21 PMWon a county championship they were expected to win. Junior championship in Leinster is a lottery as Dublin champions are about 49th best club side in the county so it leaves it very much open to everyone else. Cop out to call it bonus territory. Prepare properly and show proper ambition. Chance to play in Croke Park is there. Might only ever get one crack at it as a club so prepare properly and put pressure on the players to give the effort required to compete for a Leinster title.

Bonus territory is my own term, nothing to do with attitude or mindset of the squad, management or even the supporters. Its one of the biggest games in the clubs history, so the carrot is there for them.

I'd imagine they will prepare for this game just as they have prepared for all games this season. That attitude got them promoted to Division 2 in the league, won the Junior A championship and got them over the line against Craobh ChiarĂ¡in & Barcelona Gaels. I will be cheering them on from the UK via Clubber.

I thought you were speaking spanish there for a sec George  ;D

I meant bonus territory as in there will be not as much pressure or expectation but of course the team and management will prepare to win the game. Hopefully they can keep the season going.

Yeah a brother of mine lives in Meath and he was saying one of their midfielders has been recalled to the county panel, and the lad up front who hit 1-04 the last day will obviously take watching.

Still it's bonus territory for Kilcavan, they are a young side who as you say play as a team, no egos. It will take a good team to beat them.

What I meant was Barcelona had Kilcavan at arms length and it looked like they would need a goal at some stage if they were to win.

The free at the end was very harsh alright and thought the ref in general was overly fussy throughout.

Still as you said Barcelona will have sleepless nights over the chance they had before Kilcavan's winner when they turned over possession and should have had a goal but ended up with not even a point. That would have got them over the line.

Have you seen much of Dunsany?

Watched it on Clubber, decent game to be fair. I was surprised how good Barcelona were, much better footballing side the the Dublin junior champs. Kilcavan have a young team but they certainly dont lack heart, 2nd week running they were able to get over the line with a one point win. The goal they scored was a really well worked move and the decisive score in the game.

Up next they have Dunsany away in Meath in the semi final who seem a step up again, but Kilcavan are in bonus territory and those last two wins will really stand to them.

Would be mad if it ended up with a Kilcavan v Ballinagar Leinster final, just under 7 miles between them.

There is senior B in Laois also, but it acts more like the bottom half teams in Senior go into Senior B, its not exactly a grade. Is Offaly's Senior B a stand alone grade? if so why the rebrand, why not just call it intermediate?

Great stuff from the Barcelona team.

Ballinagar are in the quarter finals too, but they the Offaly intermediate champions. Anyone know why they are in this and not the Leinster intermediate championship?

Seems very unfair.

Kilcavan v Barcelona in the Leinster junior quarter final. Now there is a novel fixture.

I do notice Ballinagar are also in the quarter final, but they are the intermediate champions in Offaly.
Seems unfair that they are in the junior in Leinster, anyone know why that is?

I watched the Kilcavan v St Josephs final on Clubber and was very impressed with both sides. If you said it was the intermediate final I would have not been surprised given the standard. It was end to end stuff with Kilcavan running our deserved winners in the end. Kilcavan have a fine team with some key young players who have the makings of fine senior players should they reach that grade.

There were 3 Lalors, Adam Hunt and Cian Ryle who I have not seen play before and they would not look out of place in the senior championship so the future is bright for Kilcavan. The past decade or so of work at underage level starting to pay dividends.

Anyone know when and where Clubber publish what games they will be covering? I can see last weekends but nothing for next weekend.

Kilcavan and St Joseph's both with impressive wins. Cant make it home for the final this Sunday, does anyone know if there is any live streaming still going on for county finals?

I presume Laois TV is finished judging by their you tube channel and can't see any schedule for Clubber

Based on this years league results you would have to favour Kilcavan over the Rock, but this is the championship and the Rock won comfortably when they met last year so will fancy themselves to do so again. St Joseph's are also strong but Graiguecullen had an impressive win against Barrowhouse (in Barrowhouse) in the QF.

Should be two good games.
