Wonder what defines who is affected? We are windows-heavy here but all global systems OK so far.

Quote from: From the Bunker on July 18, 2024, 10:01:09 PMKasper is a good signing. Has plenty of International experience.
One year deal, buys time to find or develop a Keeper.

Ironically he is older than Joe Hart!

we have also signed a Finnish keeper so it gives him time to develop

He's naw Finnish he's only 22

First thing I thought of when I saw that post.  ;D  ;D
Absolute classic.

Quote2.7    (a)      When the ball is played over the endline by the Team attacking that end, or after a score
is made, play is restarted by a kick-out off the ground from the centre point of the 20m line
          and shall be kicked forward.
If the goalkeeper is not taking the kick-out, The goalkeeper shall stay in the small rectangle,
and all other players, except the player taking the kick-out, shall be outside the 20m line,
outside the semi-circular arc and 13m from the ball until it has been kicked.
The player taking a kick-out may kick the ball more than once before any other player
touches it but may not take the ball into the hands.
The ball shall travel not less than 13m and outside the 20m line before being played by
another player of the defending team.
    (b)      The Player taking the kick-out after the ball goes wide or a score shall have the
option of using a standard tee as approved by Central Council.
    (c)      A player in direct receipt of a kick-out may not pass the ball to their team's goalkeeper
without another player playing the ball.

Part (c) is pretty clear to me - the full back can get the ball directly back from the first receiver of the ball, but the goal-keeper cannot.

That's perfect - thank you!

Quote from: StephenC on July 17, 2024, 10:47:26 AMU16 game. Full back is taking kickouts rather than the keeper.

Keeper must stand in the small square for the KO?

Can the first pass after the kickout go back to the keeper? Or can it not go back to either the kicker or the keeper?

In theory - provided there are no local rules implemented by the county board or juvenile board:

Keeper must stay inside the small rectangle if not taking the kickout.
After kicking the ball out the full back can receive an immediate pass but not the goalkeeper.

Thanks. Have had 2 different answers from refs on this and so far I've stayed safe by having the kickout going to someone else other than either the kicker or the keeper.

Would love to hear if anyone else has come across this?

You lucky, lucky bastards. Every year only 2 counties get to moan about ticket allocation, nepotism, people not from the 2 counties going to the final, people wanting to go who are not members of a club .....

Enjoy every minute of it!

Quote from: Norm-Peterson on July 14, 2024, 06:02:25 PMA Donegal fan said on BBC that she would be supporting Galway. Well that is no surprise from them supporting a southern team. A good reminder why you shouldn't support an ROI county.

Wouldn't expect anything less. Jimmy isn't winning matches anymore this year.

Yeah, one Donegal supporter clearly represents the general views of all Donegal people.  ::)
Who do you think the majority of Donegal fans will support? Thomas niblock tweeted he was in a bar in Donegal for the Derry Mayo game and I was surprised to hear the majority of locals were supporting Mayo. I had similar experiences from Donegal fans when Derry played Galway 2022
Seriously though why would anyone care who someone else supports. Support your own county and don't be worried about anyone else. It's a bizarre thing to be getting annoyed about.
I don't care but curious if Donegal fans would support the Ulster counties the way other Ulster counties do

The short answer is yes. Of course when you have a county of 160k people you are going to get a wide variety of perspectives, however my 40 years of experience would say that Donegal would general support an Ulster county. I'll certainly be hoping Armagh do it.

Well done Galway, and the best of luck in the final (and to Armagh). It's easy to say that we'd have taken it before the start of the year, but I still left Croke Park very disappointed yesterday. 1 point in the last 25 minutes is the very simple, but very true analysis. Galway's adjustments at half time made a big impact and the little pockets of space that were there for us in the 1st half, practically disappeared in the 2nd. Taking off Paddy was a mistake given how much we needed some leadership in the last couple of minutes. Our press that's not a press has been ineffective all year and Galway made a mockery of it in the first half. Ryan McHugh wasn't picked up yet still had one of his poorest games all year; likewise Mogan was unable to get involved. McCole did well on Comer. You need luck in games and Galway got it with their goal.

Thought the ref did fine. There was a bad over-carrying call against McHugh right at the start and a double hop as Galway were coming out of defence, but it looked like Thompson clearly touched the ball on the ground.

Reckon Joyce will be happy enough in that there's plenty of stuff for Galway to improve on. Hoping for a good final and it'll be great to see a different name on Sam this year.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on July 01, 2024, 12:28:44 PMDerry are in the same position Donegal were last year, and I think they have to change the manager. Plus blood alot of new players to see if 4/5 cut the mustard. O'Rourke still the own real option, but seems reluctant, The other brings more heat than the current manager. It was still only there 1st Yr in Division 1 and they need stay there a few yrs to improve.

Div 1 champions and a mixed championship ending in a defeat to the 2nd best team in the country? Jesus 2023 was a lot better for Donegal than I remember.

What approach do you use for teaching the punt kick ? ie i presume you teach the kids to kick the ball on the ground first ?

Yeah, loads of kicking on the ground first (knocking down cones etc). Then keep reinforcing, rolling off the table, hard foot, watch the ball on to your foot, same hand same foot,  ... and all those other things I forget about :). If you want to DM me your e-mail I'll send you on some resources that I have from a few years ago.

Wow, what a game. To come from the depths of shite last year to collecting Ulster this year is just an amazing achievement - and while there were loads of people involved, there's no doubt that Jim is the heartbeat of it all.

Commiserations to Armagh - thought you were the better team over the 90 minutes and it took a couple of wonder-scores from O'Donnell to claw us back into it when it looked like you were cruising. Up and down the country we regularly use the cliche "there was nothing between the 2 teams" but jesus that's more than true for us and youse - 3 games this year separated by 1 point - doesn't get tighter.

Amazing to see all the Donegal people out on the pitch again in Clones - winning Ulster has exceeded expectations for this year and by christ we'll enjoy the next few days.

Up Donegal!

Quote from: gallsman on May 10, 2024, 10:23:46 AMAny recommendations for family things for ten days or a fortnight in Donegal in early August for a family with a near 4 year old and a6 month old baby?

Some ideas here - it's a little old but useful enough.

One thing I learned when our kids were that young was to not make the holiday about them. At 6 months and 4 years, they are going to be happy wherever you are as long as you can give them your time. So do things that the adults will enjoy and just let the kids be happy in your company.

Quote from: general_lee on April 30, 2024, 09:40:16 AMThere is unfortunately a big lout element that follows Armagh, Lurgan is the biggest town in the county so proportionally has more louts. It is also geographically further for fans to travel to any other county ground in Ireland so the buckfast brigade get at least an extra half hour drinking time on the bus than anyone else. Thats not to say there are louts from every corner of the county, I've seen my fair share of hallions make fools of themselves and they're weren't Lurgan people.

Plenty of them from every county. I've seen loads of Donegal lads pished in Clones an hour before a game was due to start, and I'm sure people could tell stories about Donegal wans who were headwrecks to be beside. I've been at loads of games with Armagh people - never had a single bit of bother. On the contrary they were always a bit of craic and everyone wished each other the best afterwards no matter what the result.

Time to start turning a few of them away at the turnstiles.
