Quote from: tyrone08 on May 01, 2024, 12:49:13 PMI had a quick look at the ages of all the people who died on the road. 41% were under 30 years old. 30% of people were over age of 60. The other 29% were between 30-60 years old.

I be on that road often enough to see that speed and overtaking at bad time would account for a large portion of the deaths.

Its a poor road but that doesn't always excuse the excess speed or overtaking on blind corners.
Theres one climbing lane on it that certainly doesn't help if you were overtaking by the time you get past the car infront the climbing lane basically ends.

At least they have the speed cameras out this morning to rectify the issue  ::)

Quote from: square_ball on April 29, 2024, 11:20:36 PMAllen never have a better chance of getting to the final with the draw he had there. Threw that away. Be hard to get over that for him.
good chance is right especially with trump and Ronnie going out in shock losses.be good to see another new name on trophy Wilson won't get a better chance after a relatively poor season.bingham when he gets on a roll is hard stopped and experience of winning big events before would expect them to be in final.gilbert is a big underachiever for his talent doesn't generally handle pressure well fella over the line again at Maguire.

Quote from: An Watcher on May 01, 2024, 10:28:52 PMGreat to see some new players in there for a change.  Delighted to see that hateful **** osullivan go out.
Looks like a Bingham v Wilson final now.  Bingham is a bit of a character too.  Jones plays a different game as well and his safety is excellent.
Refreshing to see these guys up there.  Fair play to them
+1.Ronnie gets so many plaudits for his obvious talent and achievements but an absolute bellend.

Quote from: ardtole on April 28, 2024, 09:53:02 AMI've been going to Down matches since the 80s and yesterday was nothing short of dreadful.

We were 2 points up with approx 15 mins to go v Armagh in an Ulster semi final and my main concern was, I hope this doesn't go to extra time.

If playing like that is what it takes to be competitive, it's not a price worth paying as far as I'm concerned, and judging by the size of the crowd, I'm not alone. Would there have been 2000 Down supporters in Clones yesterday?

I recognise that plenty will take positives from yesterday's performance and to a degree, I can see where they are coming from. Laverty done nothing wrong yesterday, he broke no rules as such but mother of God, the powers that be must take action sooner rather than later because as a spectacle that game yesterday is unacceptable.

And I don't think I'm looking through rose tinted glasses about games from previous era's, plenty of them were poor too. I know Jarlath Burns has put together an impressive looking task force to deal with the predicament football finds itself in, and I'm sure they can use yesterday's game as an indicator of what drastic measures are needed to cure our game.

Down are not alone either, a lot of counties employ similar tactics, at times we have played excellently under Laverty, Cavan away last year in the Tailtain cup was a great performance. But  I really do hope there are rule changes made to avoid what happened yesterday repeated. And even if we won yesterday, I'm sure I would be saying the same thing.

once you go over the 45 shouldn't be allowed back simple rule that easily policed for officials.that are no more than three consecutive handpasses and removal of advanced mark would make games alot more enjoyable.

Quote from: befair on April 28, 2024, 01:10:01 AMAwful spectacle, but good strategy from Lavery, nearly pulled of the shock of the season. The final free was a long-shot; did the ref tell hime he had to score direct?

Why do so many people in down call him lavery?

Quote from: sdg on April 27, 2024, 08:41:36 PMBeat by 1 or beat by 10, still BEAT
We were expected to get beat by 10 by most people and we should have won and in the process gave our biggest rivals a reality check..their footballers are no better than ours. Next year we can fully expect to turn them over.
On what grounds beat by 10 last year 13 scores to 8 yesterday goals kept down in the game limited enough side who failed win tailteann cup and division three this year.

Watched this last night, I was born in mid 80s so was quite young when troubles were finishing up thankfully but the show would make you angry with how some of the families where treated.Really inhuman how you could go into someone's home to tell them their husband/father has been shot dead for no other reason than his association to a sport and ask why the child is crying.Similar to the loughinisland case where the police were clearly involved in collision.

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on April 25, 2024, 10:50:44 AMSpending big on Van Djik and Allison was neccesary and they were class acts, but the lads up top cost a fair few quid and are hit and miss.

Nunez was massive money and can't be trusted. Gakpo, Diaz and Jota also were not cheap. The finishing is what's killing Liverpool in recent times.

At the back Konate is just not good enough but they didn't ever look at buying decent cover when Gomez and Matip are walking sick notes. At the time there was a the big crisis the lure of Klopp could have got a solid player in on frees or short term.

I know Klopp doesn't have City's money but the spending has not been great.
Diaz and Jota have provided excellent value for money and both would be sold for substantial profit if they moved on in summer.

Jury still out on Nunez and Gakpo(who I don't believe is good enough to be a regular starter if everyones fit).  Nunez  I thought in the earlier part of the season was coming good but much like liverpool his season seems to have petered out.

I see the game isn't being televised? On BBc or Rte?
Has this every happened for a Ulster semi final before, why would all games including prelim be on and not the Semi final?

Is it expected to be 1 sided and not worth the viewing?

GAAGO are showing it
Where would you pick up the game in Belfast City Centre?
Nancy Mulligan's, Castle Street will have it.
Thanks!

Quote from: lurganblue on April 05, 2024, 02:58:03 PMGet Southgate locked in for next season  ;)
Is he really that bad an appointment compared to ETH? The number of shots that United concede is absolutely shocking and this mainly due to the gaps between defence, midfield and up front so easy to play through. Southgate would  have them a more stable outfit and has got big performances from Rashford in the past.  Could be possibly get a tune out of Sancho?

so has Ten Hag, so what!
The relationship with ETH and Rashford is clearly fractured and I doubt he will regain any type of form with him at the helm.  Southgate is certainly a better option than ETH at this stage.

Played through by a championship team at the weekend but sure just stick with him hes doing a great job.

Selby seems in a poor place mentally which not good to see talking of packing it in.Despite having his own tough time be difficult for anyone to warm to carter.
