She's very professional. Some difference between her set and The Prodigy, flicking between the two.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on June 24, 2025, 06:34:09 PMFunny I thought he was the best of them and a good free taker, I think he be def on the panel.
Maybe i was a bit harsh, he was a county underage player and is a brilliant free taker. A kicker of 2 point frees is valuable in the game as it is now. It's just I don't think he'd have been in the panel if he didn't head away and he's been away from it a few years. He'd have a chance at it for sure.
My main point is he played for the New York Giants last year. As much as I love gaelic football it's not comparable. Base salary of almost a million dollars if he can make it. Even practice squad players can earn 100k's. He'd be mad not to give it another year or two.

I heard or read in an interview Callum Brown said he'd like to play for the county after his AFL career has finished but hopes that isn't for a good few years yet.

He's been more successful than our other recent players who travelled over there, so to expect him to come back is a stretch.

An even bigger stretch was suggesting Jude McAtamney come back. Whilst there's a greater chance he's out of contract sooner, he literally played in an NFL game last year. He'd be mad not to stick at that as long as he can.
Even if it doesn't work out you'd have to see him in action for club too as I'm not sure he's shown he was intercounty senior standard before leaving.

Derry needs Rogers out the pitch. They can't win a kickout

Odhran Lynch out of Dublin game. Regan will wear #1 with McKinless likely starting.

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on June 05, 2025, 10:31:33 PMInteresting topic though... Which county has the greatest contrast in accents?

Armagh Louth and Meath contenders id reckon. Dublin also
Be doing well to find as big a contrast as Derry City and South Derry.

Quote from: Ethan Tremblay on June 03, 2025, 01:08:57 PMIs versatility the main attribute we are looking for here? If so surly some of the names listed can be ruled out.

Mc Guigan for example is an out and out forward, and one of the best operating at the moment.  But I wouldn't necessarily be throwing him into midfield to win kickouts or disrupt play, get tackles etc.

Kilkenny and Glass for me are the standouts.  Seem to be involved in everything including scoring and defensive duties.  You could throw them into anywhere in the middle 8 and they would thrive.
Funnily enough I think these are strong suits of McGuigan's and feel he's less of an out and out forward than say a Clifford or Canavan.

Still have Glass or Rogers ahead as all rounders though.

If we're chatting all rounder I'd throw Glass in there. We haven't gone well but he's been really good all year at both attacking and defending.

QuoteFinal game for Jonny Evans, 37, today against Hong Kong. He's ready to hang his boots up.

537 competitive professional club games and another 107 for Northern Ireland.

Man Utd, Royal Antwerp, Sunderland, West Brom, Leicester City.

15 trophies won.

A very good professional footballer with absolutely no drama..

See him most summers as he has a house nearby, no airs or graces

Might get into coaching, but could ya be arsed?
He was part of the 4 at West Brom that stole the taxi in Spain. Got off lightly with that one.

Quote from: Mario on June 01, 2025, 06:19:33 PMIf Derry got what they deserved Galway would be out. Now they have a game against a team that has qualified top of group. Fine margins.

What rubbish is this? In what way did Derry "deserve" the win there? McKinless was brutal.
Two very jammy goals for Galway, one of which should have been a sideline ball for Derry. We also played better than Galway bar a 15 min period

Galway's third goal was one of the actual few very good moves they put together and I'm pretty sure it was a Galway sideline ball - Derry player got an even later touch on it than the Galway player.
That sideline looked to be taken well down the line from where the ball went out of play. It was well worked though from a Galway perspective. Well weighted pass initially to set it up.

We had a massive chance to go 4 up that was screwed up too.

A point keeps us alive. Haven't become a bad team. Really frustrating though.

Happier as a Derry fan. Pushing up on kickouts and good intensity to our play. A few loose passes frustrating but we're giving it everything. Galway still be favorites with breeze shooting into the scoring goals. Good game.

Quote from: Jayop on May 31, 2025, 06:12:34 PMIt's made a balls of the second half. Also being able to take a free back outside the arc when the foul was inside is nonsense

I haven't noticed that?? I didn't think that was allowed?
That's been part of the game since the rules were introduced
Only when brought forward. You can't take a free won inside the arc for a jersey tug for example back outside.

New post so as not to reply each time, enlarging the thread. My guess as to why De Ligt was sold is that they recouped a decent amount of the transfer fee, they had discovered a partnership that worked in Upamecano and Kim and some possible injury concerns with De Ligt. They also needed to fund Olise, Palhinha, Ito etc. signings.

De Ligt was a starter, when injured Upamecano and Kim formed a decent partnership. Upon returning from injury De Ligt actually regained his place and formed a partnership with Eric Dier, who started the majority of the remainder of the season.

To suggest he didn't play well or was replaced by Dier is just false. He even won Bayern's player of the month a couple times in a team with great players.
