In the US employees are expected to complain about any issues that will cause problems in the work place. This has all come about from the claim culture that exists here. If someone passed over for a promotion and the girl who got groped got it, all of her peers will sue the company and win for damages because nothing was done to deal with the workplace situation that was caused by the groping. If they complain about it, or if their superior know that it happened and nothing is done about it, then they cannot lose the case and the company is automatically liable for the claim. In most companies this is addressed in your employment contract and I'm sure its in Stew's.
The fact that he knew about it means that he has to act, if he doesn't as per most contracts of employment, not only will he be fired but they can come after him for costs of any settlement for any claim pertaining to the incident. By the way that also includes someone deciding in 5 years that this is now relevant to their not getting a job, or them getting fired.

If any of you who are busting stews balls are willing to risk your job, your house and your savings so that two drunks who report into you are able to have a grope in front of their colleagues that -congrats on achieving Irish Liberty and good luck with minding your own business. Oh hang on a minute thats exactly what Stew's doing minding his own business, and his own career, and his own house.
Please add all the FFS in the right places if you're still not getting it.

Iceman, you haven't escaped until you've done five years, until then you're just on parole.

in most companies, people in a relationship can not work in the same area of responsibility. On lady just joined our company from another as they had hired her husband as the head of US sales from another role. Her sales would fall under his reporting structure so she either had to move to another post or resign.

when relationships form on the job, it can get complex (in more ways than one) but most big companies put rules in place to review them to make sure that it wont impact the company. If they are reported, in nearly every company I do business with their are very illicit and complicated affairs going on all over the place...

QuoteI  just can't believe that the "injured" party in this, ie the woman who was groped, is being punished so harshly.

Rois, I see your point, but the fact of it is that she is not being punished for being the gropee but rather for lying in a HR case. That she is unwilling to follow it up says something indeed, but the fact that her colleagues were offended and were glad that the case was being examined is enough in the US for it to be a very big issue. Had stew turned a blind eye he would have been complicit in the event, and therefore had the girl's colleague taken any action with HR then stew would have had to go too. Had stew not taken action the company themselves could be seen as at fault in the case, and then liable for a potentially large punishment settlement in the courts, which the company could then have turned right back on to stew for not following company procedure...

Its a very very pc world over here, and in the area of sexual harassment in the workplace its crazy. you need to ring fence your position to the letter of the law or you can be in serious trouble.  I know of one guy who got into trouble from his HR team for emailing a female colleague with the word bitch used repeatedly in the email. They only eased up when it became clear he was talking up her getting a puppy at Christmas from his expectant dog...

Vindicated stew? Enjoy yer glass o' red.
Usually in our place people are given every opp to prove they can do the work and the benefit of the doubt even if they can't, takes a lot to actually get fired. If that guy had done that in our company under ny law, he would be fired, sued and up on charges...
Safe flight.

Quotethe best ever qb in NFL ever

Brady may well achieve more than any other QB ever in the NFL, bit does that make him the best ever? For me best ever is most talented, not who achieves the most in the league. Maurice Fitz was way better than Pat Spillane, but Pat has more medals. better example may be (and this from an Armagh man) Frank McGuigan and Justin McNulty, Justy has a celtic cross in his pocket, doesn't make him the better player...

I'm a Brady fan, mostly because he's been winning me money this year, however I think that brady has a huge advantage over every other quarterback in the league right now, his receiving unit is unbelievable. It is so far ahead of every other team in the league its not funny. This is not an argument against Brady, some of his play this year has been great (the faked spike made me laugh out loud)however if you look at a group of maybe 5/6 others there's maybe not as much in it. Favre has been great this year, but he has ridden his luck many times for game winners, peyton has had huge numbers of passes dropped by mediocre receivers, and his number one target is injured. Big ben is playing very well and his pocket play is improved no end. Romo is having a laugh, similar story to brady plucked from obscurity and now likely to make at least the nfc championship game (helps that he has TO on form). And just to add a controversial one, Eli Manning, palying in the goldfish bowl that is the Giants obsessed new york media, he came in as the number one pick and refused to play for the team that drafted him, forcing a trade to new york. Has dealt well with coaching and is having a great year despite crap receiving unit and a poor offensive line. Tikki barber opening his giant mouth about eli was the best thing to happen to him all year.
So to summarise (finally) Tom Brady best QB in the league? Maybe, just maybe

Hang on a minute, let's not let the enormity of the occasion pass.
Mw and fearon agreed on something, I've seen it all now.
I think that's the first time Tony has agreed with any of the owc folks regarding IFA related issues.
I'm away for a drink or a lie down. (Ok a drink)
