The two groups were drawn with six clubs in Group 1 and Group 2, respectively, from which four sides from each group will reach the seeded quarterfinals.

Three senior division sides, Castledawson, Ballinderry, and Eoghan Rua, drop down to intermediate level, immediately putting these clubs among the favourites to lift the Championship.

Current league leader Lavey, yet to suffer defeat this season, will be involved in the Senior Football Championship.

But the favourites for the title will be Ballinderry, the 13-time Senior Football Championship winners, as they drop to the Intermediate Championship.

They currently occupy fourth place in the Senior League, and they will look to bring their form and championship experience to the intermediate level to lift the trophy.

The first round will be held on August 4, with the final set to take place on October 27.

The two groups have been drawn, with seven teams in Group 1 and six in Group 2, with the top four from each group progressing to the quarterfinals.

Three intermediate sides, Craigbane, Ballymaguigan, and Lissan, drop down to this championship, which would make them automatic favourites for the competition.

Craigbane have been in fine form this season as they occupy fourth in the Intermediate division and will be the standout favourites to lift the trophy and add to their 2022 success.

Ballymaguigan will also be confident in their chances of success as they occupy eighth in their division.

However, Lissan have struggled this season as they occupy the relegation play-off spot with the threat of junior football looming over their shoulders for next season.

Form is key to winning trophies, and this will be the argument from the top three in the junior division.

Very tight on the teams plying their trade in the junior league to have 3 teams conditioned with intermediate football joining them. If the 3 intermediate teams remained in the intermediate championship, you'd have a very competitive junior championship. Craigbane would have a fair cut of the intermediate title, so they're more than likely going to walk the junior, no?

The intermediate championship will be worth the viewing, will be extremely competitive.

Absoluely pathetic.
I will be very suprised if this is not pulled by Derry Post.
The 'journalist' is the son of a Derry referee.
We will see where the attack on the Craigbane player goes.
There could be alot more about this.
