Quote from: Wildweasel74 on February 05, 2025, 07:25:17 PMIt's on tg4 sport player. Tohill was bern held bck nearly ever time on kickouts, problem is the ref was on top of the play and blew none of it, the mind boggles. The blew one on Glass in the 1st half for a push, u can see no push on tv, ref moves it up as Connor was turning to play the ball as he thought he had a mark. Ref give Kerry a 50m foul for not releasing the ball and a easy point for Kerry. So he gave a few ones that u can't see on replays but the most obvious fouling on Tohill he gave nothing.

Its funny, as I've a completely different perspective on the Glass incident. Was sitting a few rows behind the Kerry bench, so was close enough to it.

It was a push in the back by Glass, nothing major but clear hands on the back. Glass attempted to give the ball back, but he was immediately pushed away by the Kerry player. It looked to the ref that he didn't hand over the ball straight away. But it was the interference from the Kerry man that stopped him from handing the ball back.

That's why he remonstrated with the linesman all the way up the pitch, then spoke to the ref and then went back to the linesman for another chat.

It almost looked like a ploy to get the 50m adv, as it happened later in the first half when Rogers was pushed away, after giving away a free, but he got the ball back to the Kerry player quickly.

But that's pretty much the only midfield free the ref give. After that it was open season on Tohill - and not one free given.

On the TV it looked like Glass stood his ground and just put his hands up to stop the Kerry man backing into him. Didn't look like a free to me.

Brendan

Derry pretty much swept the board early last year in pre season competitions etc in both codes, a far cry from that this year with hurlers shipping heavy defeats

Well done St. Pat's on winning the McCrory. Should have won by much more, but showed some real discipline in those last few mins to not concede a free and take the win. Some tidy looking players there.

OakLeaf

Definitely. This Maghera team have been improving game by game. A bit more accuracy today and it would have been comfortable. MacRory finals are never handy, and that Donegal team were a very good side.

Disappointing for the hurlers against Kerry yesterday. Was expecting Kerry to win, but thought it would be alot closer given the way they were dismantled by Kildare.

Two heavy defeats in a row now for Derry, and Kildare in the next round could be a similar story is their luck doesn't change soon.

It's been a disappointing year so far for Derry. I'm sure they'll improve as the year goes on, but there are some great clubs with top hurlers in the county. What is the thing that will take them to the next level?

Great to have another Derry school winning the MacRory again, hopefully these lads can push on and win the Hogan also. Nice to see Derry underage teams back to their best after a good few lean years. Fair play to the lads pushing our schools, county and club teams.

smort

Congratulations to maghera. They'll do well to beat that kerry team though

Interstellar

Dominant all over the field but I don't think that I have seen worse or more wasteful team in front of goals. They should have hammered AVC. Do the spend any time practicing their shots?
