General discussion / Re: The far right

Kids have left for years as opportunities elsewhere have provided a better life, staying here isn't the be and end  of all, the young ones see the world differently, the experience might work out and if it doesn't the can always come home. But from what I can see there are great jobs here, better from when I grew up and I'd no incentives to stay, so I'm not sure what why they should get incentives and we didn't

The world is a lot smaller than before and the ability to facetime mammy and the rest is probably better than the once a week trek to the parents house

The housing needs sorting... Whats wrong with making new towns/villages? when was teh last time a new town was built, rather than an older one being made bigger and making services for everyone there more difficult to use

Is it people that need government handouts that do most of the protesting, cause it's being sold that it will affect their benefits? And the rest are just racists?

If your life is being affected by a very small percentage of immigrants/asylum/migrants who come with virtually nothing then you need to give your head a wobble...

The girls are being attacked is a good sound bite, but I've yet to see them burning down too many churches over the years, so Father Pat was ok.

Also there has been a housing crisis in the south long before this has been an issue

Quote from: DaleCooper on July 08, 2025, 09:34:48 PMPeople don't seem to grasp Israels long term strategy. They can't defeat actual peer adversaries in a straight up fight so their entire plan is balkanisation and causing civil wars internally in Syria [massive success there] and everywhere else.

Of course this is all for the good of democracy.

It's why they beamed hard-core pornography in the West Banks TV stations.

Always and everywhere they want to weaken and undermine anything that represents strength in a culture.

Is there a link to this? Asking for a friend

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on July 08, 2025, 10:11:55 PMThere is a hurling section for this!

While there is a dedicated section for hurling the page is

GAA Discussion
The place for GAA related discussion

So it's ok to have the final topic on here, some of the bogballers might not agree though

Quote from: Saffrongael on July 08, 2025, 02:44:48 PMWhat's Blink like ? Have a ring doorbell for about 5 years now and it's constantly going offline

Why does it go offline? I'd say once a month with mine, I suppose it take a couple of minutes to hook it back up again but still..

Quote from: Gael-in-exile on July 07, 2025, 12:47:54 PMInitially for context:
As a scoreboard operator for club championship games and county games I always confirmed at HT the scoreboard was correct.
I always waited on the flag/ref signal to put the score up.

As a coach I always had a mgt member record the score and would always check in on it. I would have also always confirmed with the ref the score at HT and again possibly with a few mins to go if it was tight and I was anything less than 100%.

In this case the game was correct. The venue made a mistake and I think the media copied that.
I would doubt if Kilkenny were all under the impression there was 3 in it. Id guess E Murphy knew. I'd guess some of the mgt knew. It may be that some outfield players didn't but I'd also guess some did - some players are well in tune with all aspects of the game, with some even savvy enough to ask the ref.

But the ref had the score wrong too so a player asking wouldn't have got the right answer

But did he? I wouldn't take too much out of what Galvin says.

Has the ref said he'd the score incorrect?

Quote from: Premier Emperor on July 07, 2025, 08:43:57 AMThe serious blunder was by Kilkenny, letting in four goals and finding themselves 4...3 points behind.  ;D

I wasn't making excuses for Kilkenny.  The red card was the turning point in the game but not what was expected.  Tipp turned up their intensity, while KK seemed almost passive down the stretch.  As if the red card guaranteed them the win and they could simply coast home.

Back to the scoreboard: shouldn't it be standard procedure for each team to keep a representative at the scoring table to immediately catch any mistakes?  I could imagine something like this happening at the 1925 semi final, however in the modern era...yikes!

There are stat men at every club game, there will be a stat man for a county team also

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on July 06, 2025, 10:51:04 PMThe ref will write the score, the fourth official will have also plus one or two of his umpires will have been taking the score down..

There's only one score card players should be asking, that's the ref's..

Few games recently home teams have had the incorrect scores up, when asked by players, which happens a lot in games I give them my score, it's the only one that matters..

Croke park tv screen getting it wrong is not in the playing rules or has grounds for an appeal

This isn't an Antrim league game with 50 people watching, 61k people there roaring & you are expecting them to ask the ref the score ? Joe Canning also said you are checking the scoreboard as a player

I've been involved and ref'd senior county finals, you are being asked frequently.

Whether the ref got it wrong or Croke tv it's the players responsibility to know how they try and finish the game..

At which point was the score incorrect? As in when was it the score was put on incorrectly?

Quote from: Blowitupref on July 06, 2025, 09:30:42 PMHQ has confirmed the final scoreline was 4-20 to 0-30.   Kilkenny thinking they were 3 behind was going for a goal late on.

This has potential to get messy. KK had enough point chances to pull back a 2 point deficit that I think they would have taken if the realised they were 2 down rather than 3

What team or management system at that level doesn't know the score?

Quote from: DaleCooper on July 06, 2025, 06:05:10 PMIm no judge but very poor second half.

Ger Loughnane would have enjoyed the INTENSITY but scrappy and messy for the neutral

I'm not saying it wasn't scrappy but when a team scored 30 points and loses by 3 it's safe to say the quality of shot selection was very good, and had both teams tidy'ed up their scrappy parts it would have been a better spectacle
