Hurling Discussion / Leinster minor c'ship
June 14, 2011, 12:38:16 PM
I caught a wee bit of this on TG4 last night - what is the format of it? Is it round-robin to a point and then knock-out?

Wexford looked to have a lot of speed in their team and were murdering Kilkenny for a while but were lucky in the end.

Who's the CHF dublin have? Does he play senior? I thought it was Liam Rushe?

GAA Discussion / All Ireland MFC 2011
May 23, 2011, 08:59:25 PM
Didn't see a thread for this...

Tipp beat Kerry

Fermanagh beat Derry

Antrim beat Donegal

Year of the underdog so far!

(Incidentally when was the last time Fermanagh won a minor game?)

GAA Discussion / Dual All Ireland club winners
February 20, 2011, 11:59:49 AM
Alan Kerins could potentially win a hurling All Ireland club this year to go with his football one with Salthill.

Anyone know if anyone out there has both AI club medals? I'd imagine so but can't think of who.

General discussion / Web-site development
December 08, 2010, 11:33:23 PM
Anyone on here develop web-sites using wordpress?

I've volunteered to help on a site and it's created using this so it's the boundaries I have to work within.

So here's the problem(s)/questions(s):
-I'm looking at creating  a gallery and potentially a slideshow.(I have a gallery no problems)
- I have admin GUI access but no access to UNIX box.

To create a slideshow I would need to add a wordpress plugin (WP photoshow I think it's called) so a few questions on this...
- I can add the plugin via the admin GUI - is this safe? What will this do in the background ?? Will it just get a tarball and untar etc on the machine ready to use??
- Anyone any examples of wordpress slideshows?

Any advice on the above would be appreciated. It's not my site however I'm helping out and would like to add a few features which people less computer savvy wouldn't be able to. I'd be happy enough hacking round were it my own site but as it's not my site I'm kind of limited in that regard...

Any help appreciated.

GAA Discussion / Down's turnaround
August 30, 2010, 12:13:25 PM
Last year Down would have been considered a mediocre enough team and this year they may well win the AI.

How have they turned it round? Is it simply Martin Clarke's return? James McCartan's management skills?

Hard to see exactly what the secret is as Clarke aside it's a very similar bunch of players but obviously something is being done right.

GAA Discussion / Full houses
August 08, 2010, 03:19:14 PM
How many full houses have their been in the c'ship this year? Bound to be the lowest ever.

AISF today and doesn't even look like the upper decks have been opened.

Were the munster hurling or the ulster football sellouts?

Anyone following this?

Some potential in the Irish team - Gillick in the 400m and I guess Dervla O'Rourke are in with big medal shouts.

Jason Smyth, the paralympian 100m runner from Derry, has been doing well off late too an is in the semis today.

Also a silver in the world junior last sunday for a young, former, camogier from portaferry wasn't bad going.

General discussion / Easyjet refunds?
May 08, 2010, 09:50:26 AM
Anyone on any of the cancelled flights of late and get a refund from easyjet?

I've filled in all the forms etc but have got no reply.

If you phone them and go through the options to get a refund they then tell you to use the web-site.

There doesn't appear any tracking mechanism to see what is happening with it.

Anyone any idea what went on here?

I see he's now being charged with assault.

Was he up to something I wonder or is it just a case of the law being an ass and him being punished for defending himself?

Anyone happen to see this guy at the queens festival last night ?

Extremely surreal. I don't know how this guy has a good reputation.

One routine was about how he stuck a mars bar up his arse while wearing woman's panties. He then phoned his mother.

One of the most bizarre hour's of my life..

General discussion / 19 year old's liver packs in
August 20, 2009, 12:47:41 PM

Your man must have been doing some drinking.

6 months non-drinking to qualify. I suppose that's fair enough but it does seem like different circumstances from the normal liver malfunction.

General discussion / Irish Proxy Server

I see from the ads someone has seen an opportunity for RTE outside Ireland via the web.

I wonder had they been reading this site to give them the idea?

Also I wonder what RTE make of it...

Hurling Discussion / Ulster 25

Noel Keith

Paddy Branniff
AN Other - who'd be the candidates here?
Dessie Donnelly

Marty Mallon / James McNaughton
Woody
Sambo

Humpy McKillen
Ollie Collins

Brian Donnelly
Beaver McCarry
Cloot

Ally Elliot
Ciaran Barr
Noel Sands

Seeing as the footballers can do it...

Not sure of HF candidates from Down / Derry as I think my HF line is a bit Antrim heavy

General discussion / iphone applications
January 04, 2009, 09:48:32 PM
What applications do those of you with iphones / ipod touch's use?

Where's the best place to get them?

I'd be particularly interested in something like a training kind of diary if anyone knows of one. (for recording running etc)

General discussion / Assisted suicides

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hereford/worcs/7675745.stm

Has anyone ever heard of "assisted suicides" before?

I wasn't aware any such thing was legal. I knew euthanasia in some places but not this.

Very very wrong in my opinion.

General discussion / Getting a PSP fixed in Belfast
August 04, 2008, 01:57:12 PM
Hi - anyone know anywhere in Belfast I could get a PSP fixed?

The usual line is you need to send away to sony but want to avoid that if possible.

Some smaller shops are bound to do this are they not?

(The problem is it isn't charging - so internally it's ok but just a problem with the connection)
