The most difficult one yet. Saturday Night Fever is amongst my favourite ever movies and have seen it so many times I've lost count.

Stayin' Alive - you can never tire of the opening credits from Saturday Night Fever.

How Deep Is Your Love

Massachussets

Ask tomorrow and I'll swap the last 2 for any of Nights on Broadway, Night Fever, New York Mining Disaster 1941, If I Can't Have You...

Have never seen Saturday Night Fever before, just IMDB'd it, a Pegi18... Saucy?
It covers a lot of ground you wouldnt expect - rape, suicide etc.

Like most of Kenny Rogers songs.

Quote from: NatSoSaff on April 12, 2025, 05:47:51 PMBarry cassidy didn't put a foot wrong today lads. Where was his mistakes?

2 moments stood out, missing the thrown ball by Armagh just before Keenan's black card and the failure to call the penalty to be retaken when keeper was 3 ft off the line, both had major impacts on the game. (Maybe not the result).

Hard to see throw ball tbf but yeah camera was right place, the umpires let him down on that one with the keeper, black cards all correct, minimal dissent tbf, but we need a kick out strategy against the big physical teams, the one short kick out resulted in a score I think.

He possibly couldn't see it because he moved from a position with a clear line of sight to the ball and players in contact to one where he had 2 or 3 players between him and the incident, that was his choice and in my mind a mistake. Everyone on the bank touchline and two end lines could see it and can be heard shouting for it.

Watched the game again and in the same incident he also missed the same player handling the ball on the ground (I didn't see that from the sideline) and trying to run with his head down into the defender.

Don't mean to harp on about it but it was a crucial decision given the subsequent black card and the effort Antrim had to expend to stay in the game (Antrim conceded 5 points in the 8 minutes after half time) A man down in the new rules is a killer.

Armagh would have brought Grugan etc on earlier would have been the outcome and no difference to the result.

The kick outs, the turnover goal and a bit of wayward shooting as they hunted the game all within Antrim's control however in the white heat of a game against the AI champions I'm not sure there is too much to criticise on these.

What I was surprised about was how few long balls went into the FF line, less than a handful in the game, the focus was on 2 pointers, there was some opportunity to be the odd three.

A strong performance and players emptied the tank, any failings are those of the county and clubs over 20 years that equipped players with their skills.

Some could have/should have at key moments (and Barry Cassidy doing Barry Cassidy things both ways), plenty of time for post mortems however acknowledge the team went toe to toe with AI Winners.

we are reaching the stage that "head injuries" need 10 mins off field check (with blood sub), the amount of feigning was ridiculous.

Brutal that as home team Antrim had a small minority of tickets, if we want to encourage the growth of the game then that is a back room deal that shouldn't happen again.

Quote from: snoopdog on April 11, 2025, 12:45:01 PMHappy enough with the draw in Lyin. Should've been a better result but could also have been worse after onanas early howler, for 5 or 10 mins they tore at utd and could've got another.
Hojlund or garnacho can't start the 2nd leg. Zirkzee and mainoo in for those 2. Hopefully Diallo will make the bench and de ligt a big loss in defence.

A draw in France would be seen as a good result for most before the game. Probably was United's best away performance in Europe this season and should have won but undone with Onana gifting two goals to Lyon.  Ferguson was ruthless with Jim Leighton way back in 1990 for the FA Cup final replay and Ruben Amorim should do similar for the 2nd leg in Old Trafford but going by his after match comments suggests he won't.

Who is the modern day Les Sealey.  Fergie and Leighton I don't think they ever spoke again.

A win isn't impossible , then again Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames aren't togging out.

Main thing is a bit of fight, last time out at the athletic grounds only 2 or 3 players git near their normal level and not sure one of the forwards laid a glove on anything.

Performance for the full game remains the aim and see how long they can keep Armagh from running the bench.

Solo and go has been good, as has handing the ball back.

Midfield throw up, probably has reduced fouls. Kick out rules has exposed a few teams and will boost Cargin for championship given aerial ability. Be good to see how many fouls arise of the back of the midfield scrum after a kick out.

Dissent for ref decisions is well down, dissent for frees not given remains high (and ref's largely ignoring it as play moves on).

No pass back to keeper has largely been good but teams don't really hunt defenders  enough, a mindset issue.

3 v3 has increased the pace of games however difficult for ref's. With the challenge to get ref's might be an option for a stand-alone lad who doesn't want to be a ref  to be paid a tenner to just be on the halfway linr and call the 3 v 3 (not ideal but what can we do, maybe even 18 yr old young whistlers for that type of call).  They can bring their own umpires chair.

I'd make a case for Neil Diamond to get a run, at once stage a genuine global superstar and his late career revival well deserved, up there for sheer number of songs that you could sing along to word for word.

In a Trump world his song America from The Jazz Singer remains a far more
uplifting version of our friends across the pond.

Quote from: Would ye whist on April 08, 2025, 01:41:49 PMFair enough MR2, I have seen it suggested that the half way line and the 40m arc in a different colour might help the refs, thoughts?

Possibly, seems like a decent idea but I hate to harp on about it but I've seen too many examples of calls being made when players are one step over the line, not the 4 meters or interfering with play to constantly be looking over my should to count 4 defenders 3 attackers.

I'd one in a game which nearly resulted in one team losing over the back of a miss call because players and officials were calling for a player over the halfway line, I blew the whistle and it ended up the lad was over at his sideline getting a drink, that team went up and nearly got a goal from it and it was a wrong call

People think that its shouldnt be difficult and if a sideline is informing you then you should take their word for it.. And this isn't me having a go of course just highlighting that its fine for people to say its hard on refs but then still expecting them to be like owls on the pitch lol

ah if refereeing was so easy I'd just get a t umpires chair like in tennis and just plant it in the middle of the sideline, sure that's were most of the calls are called lol

A team shouting "numbers" calls to get the ref to look when they are under pressure in defence to allow some dark arts to be deployed while his eyes go elsewhere wouldn't help matters either.

The Dup use the levers available to them to pursue their agenda is shocking news, who would expect them to do such a thing. In respect of "calling them Out" as a politician of these parts said once said. "So what?" It'll advance not a brick in the ground, it won't change anyone's mind and makes no use of anything to fix this debacle. I've said before it suits our 2 leading parties to row about cultural matters and side step their incompetence, this is no different.

I think a lot of commentators issue is that the Gaa and various Sf and sdlp ministers over 15 years has presented the Dup with an open goal and rather than recognise that and that things have changed in respect of budget versus project size are holding out for a white knight in the shape of one of the national governments. That might happen and in the meantime Casement can sit there.

And Dunloy

25-30 mile be a bit of a stretch for Dunloy, no?

There's not a club in the county is "pure"  whether it's having an expanded catchment, taking in waifs and strays or getting players educated in the Macrory Football Factories outside the county.

It's a pretty dull discussion at this point and anyone looking to climb to some sort of moral high ground has little enough to trouble them.

Was going to chip in however when I looked at my list I realised they were all Simple Minds songs.
