One day you commented the other day that you seen the point ran Burren close, followed up with asking Elk what he thought of Burren corner back tactics and then above you saying Burren No5 was kicking a man on the ground and that the Burren manager was swinging elbows???

It depends on the manager. Some incorporate fitness training into ball drills so you're distracted from the fact that you're doing running drills. The pure running drills are absolutely sh*te though. You feel great once you've got home and into the shower however.

Was it just me or was there a feeling that all three of the pundits on the live shown has been preprogrammed not to be negative about football in general. All three sounded more upbeat that usual about the state of football and its future, maybe this was just because it was the opening weekend on the TV but it definitely to me felt like there was a concerted effort not be negative.

Yeah they were definitely more positive but Spillage found it hard at times. They had spent two minutes talking about the wind being far worse than it looked on TV and applauding them for playing in the conditions, when possession stats etc show up on the screen (with no mention of passes) and Spillage brought out his old favourite, the kickpass to handpass ratio. As if they were going to kick the ball a lot on a day like that.

I agree 100% WGM. We were lucky to escape with no reds against Burren. But I'm delighted to see our lads standing up to the (so called) big guns of Down football and not being messed about. We did the same against Rostrevor who started a melee down there in the first game of the league. We did the same to Kilcoo in the last game of the season last year. For far too long we have had a 2nd division mentality and we kowtowed to the aristocracy of Down club football. Those days are over.

Karl Lacey at 30 years of age giving up work to concentrate on playing an amateur sport is just plain ridiculous.

Mindboggling. WIth an AI medal already secured Karl should be looking at the realities of life and getting a career for himself

Although I don't really think it's the best message to be sending out about the game, he hasn't actually given up work. He has finished his masters and is taking this summer off like a lot of students do at the end of their course (admittedly not at 30 years of age however).

Apart from our FB line our team resembles a Schools team such is their youth! Never been a terribly physical team. The team is based much more around pace than power.
