Quote from: JimStynes on February 07, 2024, 10:41:40 PMBooked New York marathon for November! Anyone ever done it?
Did you get in through a ballot or go down the route of the sports tours?

Running for a charity called 'Tiny Life'. It's a charity that helped me a lot in the past so time to repay them. It'll cost me a fortune but sure it's a once in a life time type thing for me. If anyone wants to sponsor a few quid then I will fire the link up. I have no shame lol

I am not really worried about a time or anything and I know it's a very tough and hilly marathon so I will be happy just finishing. I need to get a coach or someone to train with to keep me right and injury free. I have no clue how to structure the year from now to start of November. It's too early to train for the marathon so I might try focus on a few half marathons first.

Quote from: thegladiator on January 15, 2024, 08:20:25 PMCouldn't agree more MR2. It's just a false reading on where clubs are at by restructuring leagues etc. Every team is cyclical and  if you are lucky you can ride the bumps and keep at the higher level. This is just a nonsense restructure  and we will be back having another one to sort of out the mess that is coming this season, if not for next season-definitely  for the one after.

No one came to rescue Aghagallon when they were relegated controversially to division 3 not too long ago. This restructuring craic has went on for years when certain clubs have someone on the committee.

Quote from: David McKeown on January 14, 2024, 10:30:48 PMThere's limits on how much businesses can take in cash before they have to refer the amount for money laundering regulations.  The figure depends on the business but for solicitors offices its 1,000 i think its 5k for car sales but might be wrong
The wife got about 2 grand in cash out a while ago to pay a tiler or something and she got quizzed in Santander as to what it was being used for. Surely you can take your own cash out and do what you want with it.
Exactly. f**king disgraceful.
why is it, cash payments are tax avoidance
pay the tiler by cheque or transfer

I don't think I have ever written a cheque apart from a few times in work. Do people still have cheque books?

Will see how long that lasts! Once the inevitable fall out happens and they start killing each other.

Quote from: Truth hurts on January 11, 2024, 12:11:20 PMThat's wild, is Lurgan a big drug place now. was conway the leader of the firm ?

There are rumours that the old anti drug IRA lads are looking to take Lurgan back. This will make a great TV show in a few years.

Only 26 and getting caught up in this. It's mad altogether.

Quote from: bennydorano on January 09, 2024, 10:40:06 PMThere's tiktok doctors saying ice baths are of no good for u whatsoever, only increase the chances of cardiac arrest. I went through a cryotherapy phase years ago for an injury, nothing but a placebo for the mind, but that has value in itself.

It's like anything though, you can search for all these studies online that say they're good and as many that say they're bad. Anyone with cardiac issues should be staying away in my opinion though.

Quote from: square_ball on January 09, 2024, 09:49:08 PMIs it a prerequisite to be a PT now that you have to sit in an ice bath for a few minutes every morning and tell the world about it?

I was saying this a while ago. They'd sicken you.

Ice baths aren't a new thing though. The rugby ones were at it 30 years ago and then it slipped into the GAA clubs not long after. I remember mortar tubs landing up to training and filled with ice cold water. A fella in Lurgan had the ice bath and a membership thing for years and I loved it. But of course PTs come and sicken your hole about it and put you off it altogether.

Decent enough show, passed a couple of evenings for us if nothing else.

Michelle Keegan makes it a bit better.

Jesus I thought it was shite enough. Didn't even bother finishing it.

I miss the cycling but took fear a few years ago. Couple near misses had me nervous and packed it in.
