What’s everyone’s doing fitness wise? Any CrossFit fans?
I’ve a good lockdown stone to shift! I’ve been doing a lot on concept 2 machines lately and loving them. Aiming for a sub 7 min 2k row.

GAA Discussion / Club communication/texting service
« on: March 18, 2017, 10:38:37 AM »
How do you all contact your club members or people people in your parish? We are looking at setting up a texting service or email service that makes it easy to contact everyone in the club, or specific teams and parents. I know schools use this a lot, but they pay for it. We need something to contact people at the click of a button. Facebook is good but it doesn't get to everyone.

GAA Discussion / Best club facilities
« on: March 16, 2017, 08:47:42 AM »
Looking to go have a look at some club facilities. Something with maybe indoor 3G, couple pitches, gym etc. What clubs have the best facilities about? I've got Dunloy, Randalstown, Ashbourne in Meath in a list so far.

GAA Discussion / 7s Tournaments
« on: November 20, 2016, 11:56:07 AM »
We are looking at a club/team trip away next year. We went to a London 7s tournament years ago and it one of the most memorable trips away that we have had but they seem to have stopped it now. We are looking to get away to somewhere that has cheap flights from Belfast and over the weekend. Has anyone got any recommendations?

GAA Discussion / Grants and Fundraising
« on: July 07, 2016, 12:02:34 PM »
Anyone know of good grants or fundraising ideas that are going around at the minute? Any advice or ideas for putting in for grants and fundraising. Probably looking at a 3g pitch and new changing rooms with a meeting room and gym attached.

Sport NI don't seem to have much going about.

On his way back to play in Ireland again. When you watch some of his highlights it's hard to understand how he didn't make it on the big stage. Seems so naturally gifted.

Flying into Geneva on 12th of July. I have 5 nights in Morzine for a cycling trip. Then the wife is flying over to meet me on the 17th July and we have 10 nights. Going to drive around rather than train or bus. Don't know much about the area but would like some help with an itinerary and hotel suggestions.

What about something like:
Evian 3 nights
Montreux 2 nights
Chamoinx 2 nights
Annecy - 3 nights
Fly out of Geneva

The Tour De France is on and close to where we will be so I will hopefully get to see a bit of it as well.

As I said I know nothing about the area and no doubt there are nicer places. We are looking a bit of a mixture of sight seeing, sunbathing, few nice walks. I will have done my cycling before I start the touristy stuff so I will be happy enough not to want to go cycling, plus the wife would kill me.
Cheers

Looks like the Shockers aren't as clean as you think Aerlik!! Ive said it before, Australia has a massive drug culture and no doubt every team is rife with PEDs.

Hanley out for a while I think so who is going to take up the reins as the top Irish player?

Early predictions for the top 4
1. Sydney
2. Port
3. Hawthorn
4. Geelong

General discussion / Club Fundraisers

What sort of good fundraiser events does your club run? We are always looking ways to gather a few pound but struggling for new ideas. The charity boxing thing has been played out I think. Anything at all that would make a few?

General discussion / Bad back
« on: October 31, 2012, 07:13:51 AM »
I've been lying in bed wide awake for the past few hours feeling sorry for myself due to sciatic type pain down my leg! Started getting pain about 6 months and it has gotten progressively worse. I am a very active and sporty person (Gaelic football, golf, Crossfit, cycle and swim) but the past few months I have been unable to do any kind of sport at all. Even swimming is hurting me ffs. Driving and sitting down give the most discomfort. I have been going to a physio with a good reputation for fixing backs but he has been unable to do anything for mine. Got an mri scan and there is a disc protrusion in my lower back. I've had two injections (the second one was just yesterday) and they have done f**k all as well. I fear the next step is an operation which I want to avoid as I am a sub teacher at the minute, so if I don't work I don't get paid.

Ive had all the usual sore back pain, hamstring injuries, etc that come with playing sport but this is the most depressing and debilitating injury I've ever had.

Anybody had similar problems? What did you do to fix it?

General discussion / Buying a car
« on: October 14, 2012, 06:48:53 PM »
Havent a clue about cars or how to go about buying one.

On the lookout for one, my megane has started to play up so I am looking to get rid of it ASAP. Was thinking of a Audi a4 or a3. The other half saw a nice bmw 1 series. Is it best to buy off the Audi garage if I am looking to trade my car in?

General discussion / Scoreboards

The club is looking into getting a scoreboard for the pitch. Anyone recommend scoreboard types or fellas who would be good to speak to about this? I dont really know what budget we have set yet but hopefully get someone to sponsor some of it.
