Quote from: JimStynes on April 15, 2024, 09:56:27 PMBaby Reindeer on Netflix is very good.

Unreal. He's a great actor considering he's a comedian. Must be therapeutic playing himself. I never was as uncomfortable watching something and as quiet when over.

Couldn't sit through it.

Me either. Took two goes to make it through the first episode.  Think I'll leave it at that.
How come?  I binge-watched it over the weekend (more or less) and found it fascinating, but never felt I had to turn it off.
The actress playing Martha was fantastic as well.
I'm 2 episodes in and am definitely interested in how it all fans out. For a while I wilted but the entrance out of nowhere of the lusciously intelligent Teri got me back on the right track.

Quote from: tyrone08 on April 21, 2024, 06:21:07 PMHow the hell is it a free out when 3 players are kneeing on you. Goldrick is a complete balloon
I'd go get your eyesight checked if I were you. The ref won it for you

He gave Cavan more time than they should have got at the end for them to try and get an equaliser.
He didn't even play enough time to cover the wasting at the last Morgan free lad...

From  when the free  was awarded to Morgan kicking  it  was roughly a minute. Ref played  about 45 seconds  over the 2 minutes , so  technically 15 seconds short.

But aren't players  allowed the 15 seconds to kick a free? So that evens it out
If the ref thought Morgan took too long then he would've cancelled the free, not added on 20 seconds at the end.
Quote from: JPGJOHNNYG on April 20, 2024, 03:48:03 PMJoe hart had an interesting shoot out
I thought his save was brilliant, he got down fast at full stretch (that's a long stretch) to grab the hard hit penalty. However, the pundits commented upon the poorly struck penalty.
Rangers, the miserable shower, failed to get past Benfica therefore allowing Czechia to take the last spot .

According to Bert´s site, Scotland have already secured automatic CL group stage 2024/25  as the 9th strongest league.
The one problem with Scotland high in the rankings  is that they've 5 clubs in Europe, the total coefficient is divided by 5 and usually 2  of those clubs do nothing but lose every game., they water down the average coefficient score.

Mikel Arteta: Arsenal need 'support and love' after Champions League exit

I think it would be a great gesture if we all could rally around and each in their own way send love vibes to the severely wounded Arsenal team. Somehow take part of the burden away from Mikel's rescue process.

It's a blatant bigoted statement.

Quote from: gallsman on April 17, 2024, 10:44:08 AMtrans women should not compete in women's sports is not a denial of their rights. The argument against it is backed by numerous credible sports scientists, e.g. Ross Tucker. Introducing "trans women are big and yes that might hurt someone playing rugby, but the numbers are so small it's irrelevant therefore it doesn't matter" into the discussion is a red herring. The issue is the principle and integrity of women's sport as a protected category.

Again, I'm not denying these aren't issues, but they should be worked through, the anti trans obsessives like to find these issues and make them out to something much bigger, and plenty of incidents where whole narratives and stories have been completely invented. I've seen them targeting casual park runs over trans women being recorded as women and another headline about a trans woman who finished thousands of places behind others in a marathon. I can't say I see any discussion of women's sports on here in general. Again, it's quite noteworthy how people take an issue with this issue in women's sports, but never seem to comment or show an interest in it otherwise.

The IRFU taking a very public decision to ban two trans players from playing amateur rugby is not productive imo. It wouldn't be difficult to have a set of clear guidelines. What they did sent a terrible message.

Quote from: HokeyPokey on April 16, 2024, 11:42:26 PMI do find it odd that those who are so against trans rights have no personal experiences or skin in the game so as to speak.
Not even Graham Lenihan or J.K. Rowling are against 'trans rights' per se.

Both of them are obessives. They have no personal connection to the issue, nor are they experts in the field. Lenihan, especially, he has ruined his career and marriage over this issue. Look at the types of people who are involved in the anti-trans movement Ireland and worldwide, which include literal nazis.

It strikes me as quite similar to the right wingers who are pro-life, who don't care about the social conditions a child is born into, or the anti-Immigration crowd who are supposedly concerned about safety and housing, but will riot and light accommodation on fire and some with convictions for violence against women. People are concerned about people 'becoming' trans, but as soon as they do, they'll completely dehumanise them.

You're not posing a proper counter to my statement. Read what both have stated re trans rights then come back here.
Equating both with those types who riot and plunder supposedly in the name of white Irish nativism is thoroughly disingenuous.
Dundee away will be the big test, win that and Celtic are on the home run
A frantic Rangers held on for the draw ;D Though Dundee will feel they dropped 2 points, regardless the Dundee fans are in celebratory mode.

The one he got booked after for for arguing? Never for me, he wad going nowhere and looked for it.
He was tripped with the ball still in play, and a chance that Barca could have gained a cross or a corner,  doesn't matter one iota if he was being well marshalled away from goal and to claim he was "looking for it" requires mind reading ability, not an objective factor. The ref could have pointed to the spot and there wouldn't have been too many qualms had he done so.

I didn't think it was a clear foul/red card in the Barca v PSG game,  50/50  but I can accept the ref saw it as a clear red card.

What pees me off are those occasions when a ref up with the play, with clear sight does decide such and such an incident was not a penalty or red card,  the VAR calls the ref to note some minuscule touch by a defender, even editing the scope of the video replay.

I hope we don't have to tell Benny a third time about the Aberdeen game.
