Quote from: upandwin on October 12, 2024, 08:26:34 PMA great day of drinking and chatting before tomorrow's turning point in the Kilcoo onslaught of Down football. Talking to a few stalwarts of Down football and they're all agreed that Burren win this by 5+ points. Kilcoo will get a red card early and hopefully Moore from CPN will do us a favour the way Darren did for them a couple of years ago. Not that we'll need a favour. Would just turn a 1/2pt win in to a more comfortable watch! Odhran player of the match and Ronan McGrath x Ryan Treanor to be close behind him. The torch is about to be passed. Burren for Ulster in my opinion. Magpies aren't what they were, heard it here first folks.
Let's hear u now...

Yes should be a good final. Kilcoo favourites as usual. Burren have many quality experienced players and would be capable of doing well in ulster. They will be eager to put a performance in after last years show. Kilcoo show no sign of waning and look to be every bit as strong if not stronger than last year so it will take a big game from burren to beat them. Kilcoo to shade it this time though....

Quote from: Blackandblue2 on September 25, 2024, 10:44:27 AMBusiness end of the season.

Predictions for the weekend.

Drumgath vs Darragh cross- comfortable win for Drumgath, playing well at the top of division 3
Rostrevor vs Banbridge- Rostrevor may thread carefully as Banbridge have a couple of players to cause trouble, but if match ups are right it should be a couple point win

Glenn vs Kilcoo- Glenn pose a different question to Kilcoo- the unknown, do they have enough to trouble Kilcoo, many have tried and failed. Kilcoo comfortable win
Carryduff vs Burren- The prize for runner up 2024. Both teams have numerous county men, should be a great battle. I think Carryduff scrape through this one. 1 point win

Thoughts?
Yeah Glenn could be tricky for kilcoo but I expect kilcoo will give them the respect they deserve and win the match.

I am going for Burren in the second game. Burren were not impressive v bredagh in second half but they should have learned but I don't think carryduff have the personnel in defence to deal effectively with liam kerr and Danny Magill... if they are on form. If these 2 boys are not in form then Carryduff can win it.

Very sad news. A great lad and great player. I had the pleasure of seeing him a few times when he played for St colmans newry. He would have been good enough to play for Armagh and could have had AI medal. Hard to deal with...RIP

It great to see Ulster teams so successful considering what we have to put up with in the North.

I love Paul Conroy and he has had a good season.
But Dylan McHugh has easily been our best player all year.

See thats whats abit daft about these awards, if Conroy was to have a brilliant final but lose by a point and for talks sake Rian/Turbo/McCambridge had stinkers of finals but their team got over the line, who is more deserving of the award?

Think the 4 mentioned plus Dylan McHugh all have a good chance and should all be certain all stars.
Paul convoy was brilliant today. He should get it regardless of result.

Goodluck to Armagh. Call into Newry on way home to show us the cup....its been a while and we miss it.

This game is hard to call. Both teams are very experienced and are ready to win it. I think it will come down to which team has the better quality. Armagh have Rian O' Neill. Galway have walsh and comer . Galway have slightly more quality in their team so for this reason I think they will edge it but I hope I am wrong.

This is hard to call. Cork I think have slightly the better team but Clare have been closer to the top teams in recent years so they may have know how to get over the line in this one.

Quote from: snoopdog on July 14, 2024, 08:13:45 AMDown have a massive learning curve for next year. Div 2 won't be easy. We kicked some poor wides yesterday. And while we never looked like losing, croke pk seems to hold a fear factor for us. That goal line scramble at thr end could've ended up disastrously for Down. A game that shouldve been won a lot easier could also have been lost very easily.
Final won, move on and I'm sure Laverty has already begun planning for next year.
It's good to win to end the year in a positive. The main focus going forward is to stay in div 2 and get the team accustomed to challenging in the sam maguire. Hopefully the management team can find more quality players to bolster the current team and squad because we are still lacking in some areas of the team ro really have a go at winning sam maguire in next few years.

Quote from: tonto1888 on July 12, 2024, 07:01:33 PMI see Kieran Hughes from Monaghan had said the Armagh players will take a 2 point loss. Sums up monaghans attitude really

It's as bad a bit of analysis as I've ever heard. No wonder Monaghan didn't win any AI semi finals if that is in Kieran Hughes' thinking.
I'm sure he doesn't mean 'take' as in accept it/ be satisfied with it... probably means will take as be on the receiving end if it... ?
If they were a young team with 7 or 8 U21s from last couple of years, sure there is an argument there. But for this particular group, I think this is their defining moment. Can't see too many more bites at the cherry.
I heading to the game and am expecting Armagh to have right go at winning the match. I agree with above and I won't surprised if they do it.
Exciting game and deserved win
