Title: A proper International
Post by: Pangurban on January 14, 2013, 08:25:32 PM
Instead of the Basterised Code involving Aussie rules why dont we have a proper International between the 6 Counties and the 26, all proceeds to go too the creation of employment projects throughout Ireland as a whole, which might help keep some of our G.A.A. at home

Is this a serious thread?

GAA enforcing partition.............................

Well suppose that is a logical step after all these years................ ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) We could tie it hand-in-hand next year and join in the with the County Derry Board when they celebrate the UK City of Culture Celebrations.

We have as close a competition to what you are proposing and it's called the Railway Cup. Nobody cares about it bar the over 65's who fondly remember it in the past.

As the Government of the 26 County state now accept partition, and the GAA is keen to accept grants from the British state, as well as recognising teams comprised of the forces of that state, is the idea so outlandish  that a game between the two states  would comprise a proper international. After all the governments and people of the southern state have treated and viewed the North as a foreign entity for the past sixty years. The only reason to reject the idea is too allow you southern republicans to continue speaking out of both sides of your mouth.
Laoislads objection is valid, we would not be able to compete in Hurling

As said before this is just a bastardisation of the Interpros. If it were to happen the 26 would smash the North, sure we would have Donegal, Mayo, Dublin,Cork and Kerry and ye got nothing to compare.

Would ye have enough hurlers to form a Northern Ireland team?

That hurts from a Laois man.

We have enough hurlers to win the club All Ireland.
