the standard answer is Lacrosse but the ball spends so much time in the Crosse the over all speed average would be fairly low hopefully  it the much better  'Intercrosse'  that takes the title , not in my case of course

Does Ice Hockey count as a sort of a frozen field? If so, surely Ice Hockey.

And what is the fastest game measured in? Speed the ball travels, or speed the players travel, or wha?

Hurling I always thought?

AZOffaly

I'm guessing because Hardy asked the question, the answer isn't 'Hurling' :D

Hardy

As AZ says, sorry, Seanie, but if you've ever seen QI, this is the  moment when the big hooter goes "ahooooogah ... ahoooogah".

I'm not saying it's not hurling. If I take the Stephen Fry role, I'd say it's a case of "we don't know" or  "there's no answer".

1. How do you define "fastest" (again as posed by AZ) and how do you define "field" and how do you define "game", to eliminate horse racing or motor racing?
2. Who measured it, what did they measure and when?

Just having a poke at the ould guff I'm sick of hearing down this way - "fastest field game in de world, boy". I could leave it at that if it wasn't usually followed with "Football? If I had me way, I'd puncture every football in de county, boy".

how do you define "field"

A field sport is surely defined to be one played on grass

AZOffaly

So horse racing it is then? Or Polo at worst?

Stock-car racing?  :P
