It's all the fault of scheduling
And if course mean spirited people who won't go to enjoy seeing a great team play football

"The provincial chief admitted that just 16,000 tickets have been sold for Sunday's doubleheader of Leinster semi-finals"

Wow.

Wow.

Wow indeed. He goes on to say he'd be happy to break 30k. Terrible but not surprising.

It's gas, Kildares demise is being blamed. No one is looking at Dublin's dominance.

Kildare's demise hits Croker crowd

from Hogan Stand

Leinster Council chairman Jim Bolger says the low turnout expected for Sunday's Leinster SFC semi-final double-header at Croke Park can be partly attributed to Kildare's decline.

Just 16,000 tickets had been sold for the Dublin v Kildare and Meath v Laois double bill on Thursday, and while it's predicted that the crowd will be around 30,000, it's almost half the 58,723 that attended the last provincial semi-final meeting of Dublin and Kildare - which was also part of a double-header - in 2011.

"I think that reflects on Kildare really, they were really up there at the time, probably in Division 1 which is always a help. Last year, Kildare had a great run in getting to the Super 8s and so on," Bolger is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Star.

"So maybe now they will get some momentum and more supporters might come out for Sunday's game."

Ah sure blaming Dublin us just mean spirited  ::)

Cunny Funt

That's a ridiculous excuse from Jim Bolger. An almost full O'Connor park would carry a far better atmosphere than a sea of empty seats in Croke park for this semi final double header.

Blowitupref

Only 16k tickets sold between 4 counties thus far, what happened to Dublin's 35,000 core support that John Costello was talking about last spring?

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

rrhf

The Dubs sold the GAA a pup, promising them crowds they couldn't deliver in exchange for grants funding etc...
in other words the blue roar is full of shit. Disgraceful attendances by Dublin fans who have lost interested in 5 in a row...that double header wouldn't fill omagh..gaa need to look at attendances in Leinster and do away with that shitty provincial board. Couldn't be adding up.

Kids being charged is an absolute disgrace!

Farrandeelin

Not Dublin related...but are the Monaghan/Fermanagh/Armagh/Cavan doubleheader tickets priced at Ulster championship prices or qualifier? Or is it separate depending from the county of purchase? Or are they all similar in price?

Qualifier I believe. 20 for a wooden bench this weekend when it was 25 last time out.
