Is that Mickey Mansell a Down man? His shirt looks like the old red and black gear.

Barney gone now. He's very frustrating to look at. All his shrugs and gestures when he misses. He's gone mentally.

Yeah even at his peak he was prone to throw in the towel from time to time.

Lennon 1 set up v Norris. With the darts, but he's well capable of winning this.

Came on to post similiar..

Wades antics last night were bizarre, I know he has suffered mental health problems before and wonder is he in a bad place. Social media has decided that he's just a cnut, the abuse on his Twitter is unforgiving.

Wade's apology this morning rings true. Must be terrible having an episode and trying to play in an environment like that. Twitter is pure shite for people talking crap.

1-1 in sets now, Norris fairly flew through that set.

Dolan through to the quarters, made it harder for himself than he should have but got there 4-1. Serious chance for him to make a semi at least..

Not surprised Anderson was beaten in the semi final so convincingly. He hadn't a great competition. Didn't really get going to the extent that we know he can. Hasn't recovered from Gerwyn price who beat him in the Grand Slam by getting into his head. He also embarrassed himself by his vulgar comment in the semi final of that competition whit talk about farting. Not sad to see him go, although I like him. James Wade another huge disappointment with his behaviour on the oche and his inane ramblings off it. The ten players picked for the Premier League will be very interesting tonight. My guess is MVG, Anderson, Wright, Gurney, Wade, Smith, Lewis, Suljovic, Cross, Chisnall.  No place for Barney. He has been treading water for the past three years and looks bored. he gives the impression he doesn't want to be there. SO he shouldn't.

Not sure Lewis or Chizzy will make the premier league.

Barney hasn't done enough to warrant selection but sentimentality will see him get a spot and I think Price will also get in. He is the pantomime villain but darts needs such characters that create a bit of needle.

Post by: bennydorano on January 01, 2019, 06:22:45 PM
It's a bit of a we'll pick who we like selection process IIRC from last year, apart from the Top 6 who are guaranteed a spot. Was it Top 6, Sky pick 2 and Barry Hearn picked 2???

Barney is retiring at the end of 2019, he's outside the Top 10, playing awful, he might get very lucky and get a wildcard pick. Wade &  Lewis have lost their cache.

I'd be surprised if they didn't pick Barney, he's box office especially in a fairwell tour..

Michael Smith to give MVG a game tonight I reckon..

7-4 or 7-5

Once you get past MvG, Anderson and Wright, it's open for anyone. Smith is a cert based on this year and Cross on last year.

That leaves 5 places, with ticket sales overruling form wherever possible.

Barney and Price are certs. Other 3 could be any of 10.

Depends on how he handles the occasion. If he repeats his semi final form and MVG is slightly below par we could be in for a classic that could go either way. If he doesn't then I can only see an easy victory for MVG.

Not looking too good for him. He's looking nervous on the doubles. Mvg isn't even firing on all cylinders yet.

Flat. Crowd quiet. If Smith wins from here it will be a miracle.
Title: Re: 2019 PDC World Darts Championship
Post by: yellowcard on January 01, 2019, 10:28:25 PM
I half suspected that Smith might struggle with the occasion, he is normally a heavy scorer but simply didn't play anywhere near his best which he needed to in order to stand any chance. MVG was below par also and he seems to get a very hostile crowd reception at the Ally Pslly every year for such a great player. Fair play to Smith for calling out the booing in his opponents darts.

I think it's a touch of crowd Xenophobia, he's had it the last few years and doesn't produce his best at this tournament.

2020 championship starts tonight, can't be arsed starting a new thread  This grumble from last year still applies, I mean if you were going tomorrow this would be lineup you would see

Darius Labanauskas v Matthew Edgar (First Round)
Ryan Meikle v Yuki Yamada (First Round)
Luke Woodhouse v Paul Lim (First Round)
Jermaine Wattimena v Humphries/Petersen (Second Round)

Underwhelming....

Potential toughie for MVG tonight with Klassen though

Real hatred there by MvG towards Klassen. Is it because of the lewd photos to the child issue?

QuoteKlaasen was sentenced to a 16-hour community service in 2012 and a fine of 400 euros for having sent a number of nude photos of himself to a minor girl. Van Gerwen revealed on Friday that the girl in question is his family.

"If someone sends something like that to my wife's sister, while she was fourteen and has a disability, you will break. I will never be able to give it a place and I will never forgive him," says Van Gerwen about Klaasen.
