Just thinking the same. He has been a great servant to laois. Seems happy to contribute from the bench nowadays rather than demanding a starting place. He always looked after himself so if he wants he could easily do another year. Maybe have him contribute as a forwards coach under a main overall coach to give him experience for the future

Clubs would still exist and be a focal point in a divisional set up. Are you suggesting clubs in Kerry have faded away with the arrival of divisional sides. Replace the league with a club championship. Have a meaningful prize for the winners eg represent laois in Leinster if a divisional side wins the main championship.

Think of county underage teams with players from intermediate/junior clubs. They get good coaching while with the county underage teams and probably while in 3rd level education. Eventually they will solely survive in their club environment. Level of coaching will probably drop in standard, exposure and competitive level will definitely drop so their chances of continuing to play for the county are poor. In a divisional set up that would change.

Few things hard to understand yesterday. Individual mistakes will always happen that's life but...
How many times did we kick frees and lineballs backwards yesterday?
We let most of the 2nd half play out around our half back line by our decisions. Time and time again we either took short kick outside to our cornerbacks or passed possession back to them. Clare just pushed up and put pressure on us turning us over time and time again. Lot to be said for route one on a day like yesterday. Play the game in their half. Tipping did it in the hurling and got 5 goals.
Why can't we tackle individually? The amount of half hearted attempts as Clare ran by us was unreal.
Decision making was very poor. Terrible shot selection when better teams keep patient and wait for better openings.
Where was the fight. After killing themselves all year only one team really wanted to win in the 2nd half

GAA Discussion / Game Sense Book

Hi.
Anyone know where I could buy a copy of John Morrison's book Game Sense. It's constantly listed on the Dublin Development website as "New print coming soon" but no sign of anything happening.
Thanks

Because it wasn't robotic football like the first half was. Teams get used to the pedestrian familiar pattern of..we'll let you take a short kick out and start handpassing the ball slowly up the field...meanwhile we'll retreat and try to turn you over once you get to our45...Then you retreat and we'll handpass the ball slowly back down the field etc etc. Armagh pushed up into laois faces in the first 20 mins of the second half, contested every kick out and actually won some ball in our half of the field. They play with abandon which seemed to shock our lads until in fairness to them they composed themselves and pushed on with better subscription. It was actually good football to watch from Armagh. There is plenty of talk around that teams are moving away from the ultra negative approach. Hopefully we're not just starting to adopt it when the better teams are moving to some new firm of play

Probably only 1500-2000. More laois supporters than the 1st day. Seemed like a smaller crowd travelled from Armagh. They were definitely more vocal the 1st day

Just one question...Exactly who's bored of the experience night....can't be the kids cos it should be new kids coming through at least every 2 years so therefore it must be the adult mentors/club officials. That's part of the underage problem. Adults get bored and stale. Instead of renewing and reinvigorating the whole set up it eventually just fades off and kids suffer. It's not entirely the adults fault. They should be helped to maintain their interest and upskill themselves. Hopefully the likiof these new pathway workshops will be the start of that

Of course it's the right decision. Point is if it's the right decision next Sun why wasn't it the right decision last Sat....only explanation is gaa don't care about most counties only want the galacticos filling the coffers.

Another example is Sat week...laois footballers in portlaoise at 3 - laois hurlers 80 miles away in Ennis at 7. Would you see that happening to Dublin or cork for example and it's not the first time that's happened laois

They made the same 'mistake' in 90 or 94 (?) playing a Donegal match I think the same time as an Irish world cup game but they didn't learn. The only reason they're doing it now is to accommodate the dubs

Couldn't do it for laois v Armagh last week though. Everyone treated the same as usual by the gaa

Read the rulebook. It's very clear. It's also the reason the CCCC couldn't ignore the Laois error, as otherwise Armagh would have had a slam dunk opportunity to object.

Of course Laois accepted it as they know full well that a hearing on foot of an Armagh objection could have decided (perfectly validly) to kick them out of the Championship.

For a start I believe laois should accept this and move on to win the next game as we won the first. As regards not accepting....Just think of recent high profile  challenges to gaa rulings. Most would have said the rulebook was clear but plenty of holes were found. If the roles were reversed I would be disappointed if laois took Armagh's stance. If laois do win the next day it will only drive armagh football into deeper depression
