I guess the seniors will be on a crest of a wave now when you sail into the marshes on saturday noght. Down will need to get at it from the start.

Taken from the hoganstand:

Meath's demolition of Dublin in Sunday's Leinster SFC semi-final attracted more TV viewers than England's World Cup clash with Germany.

TV3 has revealed that 528,000 watched their coverage of Meath's 5-9 to 0-13 victory over their old rivals. By comparison, 400,000 watched Germany's 4-1 rout of England in Bloemfontein on RTE.

Meanwhile, rugby commentator Ryle Nugent has been appointed RTE group head of sport with immediate effect. Nugent succeeds Glen Killane, who was recently appointed managing director of RTE television.

Interesting given the huge hype behind the world cup and the media obsession with it.

No suprise it went to a rugby man. D4 press always lead with Rugby it gets number 1 billing ahead of everything else. Even though Gaelic football is the countries number 1 sport the egg chasers if playing always get the nod.
Sickening, sooner they go back to their mediocrity the better.

And another thing while im on my Rugby rant. One of the best GAA schools in the country St Colmans Newry current Hogan Cup holders  now allow Rugby, in my day they wouldntr even allow hurling.
Wheres the skill in holding a ball running with it or hoping on top of some lad.

Ok some football talk.
Down beat Rossies in a friendly match in Clones on wednesday. Big Dan was in the middle and Ambrose was in half back. Marty Clarke was poor again. Although he played well for An Riocht in the middle last night against Kilcoo.

Best of Luck to Colin. he has done well and his radio programme on a saturday is brilliant. so good luck on MOTD2.
This thread is a disgrace.
bunch of biggoted p.ricks. Is the lad not allowed to have a different tradition.
Catch yourselves on.

you tithead... he doesn't know you but he hates you  ::)

Once the biggots are cornered they come out with insults.
He used to work with a mate of mine in Belfast and he speaks very highly of him. your as bad as Gregory Campbell. go back to the hole you crawled out of.

If we learned anything from our trip to Aughrim last year it should be not to underestimate the so called smaller counties.
Down need to tear into them from the off and not let Longford get a sniff of success otherwise we are in for a battle.
Hopefully its a saturday evening game.
Just glad its not in Pearse Park. Not a happy hunting ground for us Down men.
Congrats to Longford on theirr win over Mayo it was great to see.
We are hurting from the poor second half display against Tyrone and we need to kick on from this.

Its an Old Lady visiting the Country. Get over it. No doubt there will be plenty of tools out protesting.
Get over it i would hate to think that any fellow nationalsit or Republican could be as bitter as Geoffrey Campbell and his cronies were last week when the Saville report was posted.
Its time to move forward and forget the wrong doings of the past.

Down were rubbish yeterday and Tyrone werent much better.end off.
The only chance of Down reaching a QF is if we meet even worse teams than us.Wee james was clueless yesterday. Did McCartan do an interview after the game.
We will learn some painfull lessons in Div 1 next year.
Gutted after a round trip from Dublin yesterday.

The line-outs that famous night in Newry 2 years ago:

Tyrone:
J Devine,
R McMenamin, J McMahon, PJ Quinn,
D Harte, C Gourley, P Jordan,
C Gormley, R Mellon,
B Dooher, B McGuigan, C Cavanagh,
M Penrose, S Cavanagh, C McCullagh.

Down:
B McVeigh,
L Howard, D Gordon, D Rafferty,
A Carr, L Doyle, P Murphy,
J Lynch, A Rogers,
J Fegan, R Murtagh, D Hughes,
J Clarke, R Sexton, B Coulter.

Down heads, apart from Clarke is the team stronger now, especially in defence?

I would say our defence is NOT stronger without  Liam Doyle oe Aiden Carr. Midfield and Forward line are better though even if still has a lot of the same components.

The Down posters are quiet because in all honesty i dont think any of us know what to expect we could as easily win this game as lose it. We need to get a good start, cant afford to let Tyrone have the start they got in omagh in 08. If its half the game we got in newry that night the pundits on RTE will be calling it the game of the season, still cant believe nobody showed that 2008 replay live.

Anyone know the latest on Ambrose, will he start next sat and will Carr be back, surely McComiskey will start on the bench after recent poor performances.
