How has he been performing in club football since his switch?

What club is he with?
Rostrevor.
I think he stood out a good bit playing full back for Rostrevor this year in the games i saw him in.

Had a good start and a good end to the season. Was played in every line/position throughout the season which maybe didn't help his cause. Definitely performed best from full back in the Championship.

Ha ha ha here we go agin with this crap every manager changeing places with another manger what a  joke

Every team needs a manager. Not exactly hard to fathom and wouldn't really call it a joke. The romanticism around (all/most) clubs being able to have 'an inside man' in charge (which I assume is part of what makes up the 'joke') is unrealistic. Conversely there is obviously the other end of the scale when you get to mercenary territory. But generally, every club will need to appoint someone, which is just the reality

Let's just clear it up - the referee had zero impact on the outcome of the match. Zero. 0. None.

1-0 away win. Clean sheet, tight game, winning ugly is the sign of a good team  ;D

Quote from: clonian on September 30, 2024, 09:53:30 AMI was going to buy all the games on Down TV this weekend but by Friday I decided against it. Paid to watch the Burren/Carryduff game and regretted it. Expected Kilcoo and Drumgath to win and wasn't going to be back in time for the other IFC semi.

The club football served up in the county seems to be of a poor standard at the minute. Are we worse than other counties though - maybe it's not actually that bad but it's terrible to watch.

At least you have the option. Down 'GAA' TV haven't shown one Hurling game this year AFAIK. Admittedly last round games were one sided but some good games before that. Thank God for Clubber and Antrim SHC streamed too.

I don't know if Down TV are going to show the hurling semi finals this week. You'd think it would make sense to show them but they may not - can't remember if they did last year

They showed the Ballycran V Liatroim semifinal last year.

Is there anything to stop them streaming the 2 games on Sunday JC? Internet etc?

We've fibrus to our building @100M, but they bring their own system I believe and have broadcast live from both our place and Portaferry in the not too distant past.

They must have been reading lads - both games are being streamed.

In fairness it was on the streams for last weekends games that the hurling would be on this week.

Quote from: ranch on September 25, 2024, 03:31:52 AMStrange times and venues for some of this weekends fixtures. Kilcoo v Glenn takes place on Saturday evening at 6.30pm whilst an intermediate semi final is on in Mayobridge at 4pm. Surely a double header in Newry would be a better idea and make more sense for spectators.
Sunday is even more laughable - the minor championship final is on at 1.30pm in Newry and the same ground hosts a senior semi final at 6pm - why not play the minor game at 4pm and allow neutral fans to attend both?

All about maximising the £

When county board ran double headers everywhere and anywhere, the accusation then was that it was all about maximising the dough.

Surely both ends of this stick can't produce them the same result?

——

Double headers are shite btw.

Indeed. A clamour for double headers rears its head every so often alright. Usually from someone with a vested interest in one of said games. Therein lies the problem. There isn't really that much of a demand for double headers. Very very few spectators will be present for all of both games, especially at club level. A lot will go for the first game and drift away midway through second, some more will dander in second half of first game for a 'decent seat' and then watch the second. Unless the same club or clubs are playing, you'll get very few but the diehards completing viewing of both.

Quote from: TakeTheMark on August 17, 2024, 12:18:01 PMWill there be any streaming of this years championships? We had JFC games last night, and three potentially very good games in the senior hurling championship this weekend, but down tv webpage still showing last year games.

Streaming details have already been released to clubs. In fact they were released when the draw was made for the first rounds. Looking forward to more excellent coverage this year.

Two week break is great. Lets players and management get away if they want without missing games. Fri / Mon / Fri isn't as bad as it is perceived. In fact in the case of 4 Division 2 clubs it is Wed / Fri / Mon / Fri. It's a generally very well run fixture calendar so these things shouldn't be too detrimental to the overall schedule.

It's not gard to workout differences between all county grounds and Croke pk, bar PUC.

Which facilities that are available in Croke Park, and not available in Pairc Esler, would you like to see and would justify the price being charged?

Quote from: DownGael71 on April 12, 2024, 10:03:41 PMCorrect but why would anyone think it's okay for senior men's fixtures to go ahead tonight and not allow ladies fixtures tomorrow?    From what they put on social media, they plan on accessing based on weather as they go.  Think only other ladies fixtures is u14s

Not sure, but I don't think that was really the point of the post. The real mind blowing logistic of the weekend isn't to do with the weather, it's the fact that there are Senior Ladies fixtures at 7pm and the County Senior team are playing at 6pm in Newry in the Ulster Championship.

If I was a Liverpool fan the thing I would be concerned about is will he have the same clout that Klopp had regarding new players coming in, players came to Liverpool not just because it's Liverpool FC but because they wanted to play for Klopp.
You may find now players might be more reluctant, though in fairness Liverpool are in a far better place now than when Klopp first came.
Alot of the players Klopp bought were decent players who he improved coming from small clubs like Southampton, Hoffenheim, Wolves etc so they weren't really competing for the already made top players. Saying that I get what you are saying.

I suppose you are now trading off the 'Klopp factor' against the fact Liverpool are now actively competing each season at the top of the league. Much more of a pull than 5-6 years years ago, regardless of who is at the helm.

As noted also, not too many household names have been signed by Klopp, more so good players, good personalities who he has been able to get the best out of, develop and probably most importantly, keep happy even if regularly on the bench.

City's to lose. Arsenal close second after the dismantling job they did on Liverpool at the Emirates and the furore which followed from pitch and media. Ah well, always next year.
