Labour obviously never heard of Gaelic games

Labours soccer plan launched in Drogheda today....

The plan pledges that the party will work closely with the FAI to provide significant investment in the game - from the grassroots to international level - and make a career in the sport in Ireland more viable.

The Labour party has also promised to expand football as a transition year subject, provide a portion of broadcast revenue to League of Ireland clubs and work with the Executive in Northern Ireland to consider the feasibility of an all-island football league.

Speaking at the briefing, Ged Nash said a football industry must be created in this country.

"We can only do that with sustainable government support, year-on-year, on a multi-annual basis. And the reality is, in terms of funding and political support over the years, football, our game, the beautiful game, the people's game, has been the poor relation.

"All of the evidence is there to show that Labour were committed to increasing the betting levy by 1% each year and ring-fencing €30m that we generate from that for our game.

"We would also commit to ensuring that the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund is funded on a multi-annual basis."

So Drogheda win a cup.

They're also in league relegation play-off V Bray Wanderers.  :o

Hardly anything too mad..

Which 'safe' part of Ukraine would you bring your family to for a weekend break?
Not sure where it mentions Ukraine in that article?

Anyway, the bulk of Ukraine is safe ffs.

The bulk of Ukraine? Where exactly? It's a simple question.

That they are not sufficiently dangerous to warrant their residents gaining an unlimited right to come and live in Ireland?

Most parts of Ukraine are a bit like the 6 counties in the 1970s, a bomb may go off but just as many are killed in road accidents. If I had business in Lviv then I would go there.

I missed this earlier.

So yeah, if you had business in Lviv, you'd go there. And then you'd leave again as soon as you had conducted your business.

Would you bring your family back there to live? Would you worry about the psychological effect the sound of an air raid siren would have on your infant children? Every other day, for weeks, months and now years on end.

Would you like your children to know that the terrifying noise they hear is because evil men want to kill them? And that sometimes they succeed.

Would you take the chance that you'd end up like this poor guy who lost his entire family in the 'safe 'city of Lviv? That was in September.

https://x.com/UkrReview/status/1831270459314163771

Or how about this guy who lost his entire family in the 'safe' city  of Kriviy Rih? That was this week.

https://x.com/katalina_ada/status/1856246049821589504

There isn't a safe city in Ukraine. It hasn't stopped.

You want them all to live in the fields in the 'Oblast'? What will they do there? Where will they work? Live?

There are 6 Million Ukrainian refugees living in Europe now. Do all countries send them back to live in the 'Oblast' or is it just little miserable Ireland?

Accepting refugees is the only thing Ireland have done for Ukraine. Other countries have helped out with military and financial aid as well as accepting refugees. Now Sinn Fein want to send Ukrainian refugees back to their so-called imaginary safe areas.

Well, I say, f**k Sinn Fein. Shitting themselves they are going to lose a few votes on immigration.

Oh btw, your comparison of Ukraine to the north in the 70s is ridiculous.

Age does give you wisdom and a scepticism of easy solutions.

Or they are just voting for the parties that they voted for all their lives.

Mad Mentor

A lot of the stuff coming out of the political parties reminds me of writing essays and doing my homework on Sunday night having ignored it all weekend when I was in school. Rushing to get something, anything out there. All we need is the Glenroe theme music playing.

I think that Trump has had a moderating effect though. Absent Trump, you would have had everyone giving away the corporate tax receipts and borrowing a whack as well. But with Trump there is an increased realism that good times are not guaranteed, or at least there should be.
