They can negotiate. Ultimately it is the Dail that elects the Taoiseach. Sinn Fein will nominate Mary Lou McDonald. Unless she can do a deal with Fianna Fáil, she will get 50 votes at most (SF plus other left)with 87 needed at a minimum.

How could SF go into Government with FF after what MM said about the troubles last week?

Tony Baloney

Jesus imagine a world where Mary Lou McDonald is your nations leader. But if Trump can do it anyone can.

You think? It's not like we've had the gold standard in Leaders of our country.

Quote from: Rossfan on November 30, 2024, 10:45:30 AMOut of 7800 tally in Ros/Gal looks like Fitzmaurice and Kerrane to retain seats with a battle between FF and FG for the 3rd.
Eugene Murphy not in the running.
Thankfully only 80 votes for the 2 fascists.

Not sure of the geography of the votes tallied though.

In total? Just shows how vocal a tiny tiny minority are.

LOL

The Independent Ireland candidate TOPPED THE POLL in the constituency he's referring to.

Keep spouting alternative facts

I didn't know hence the question mark Coco. They'll be on the look out for more racists if you journey back

Leo, Bertie, Meehole, Simple Simon? Would have Trump over any of them anyway nevermind Mary Lou.

"Would have Trump"
I think that illustrates the value of your analysis

With 80% tallied:

FF 20.8%, FG 20.0%, SF 18.2%

Looking like Fianna Fáil will now emerge as largest party. FG transfers will help them in that. Some betting still has SF largest, but they are trending below the exit poll.

RedHand88

Gavin Reilly confirming FF will be biggest party, and have significantly outperformed the exit poll.

Pretty clear the exit poll has underestimated FF and over estimated SF. The polling industry is struggling.
Nonetheless SF will be over the moon given the EU and locals earlier and taking into account the state they were in 8-10 weeks ago. Still won't be in government and it's obvious there needs to be some sort of anti-FFFG pact at the next election if people truly want a change of government. I can't see Mary Lou staying on for another 5 years of opposition.

That's the problem with the Irish PR system

It leads to a complete splintering of the vote

At the end of the day what significant differences exist between PBP, SF, Labour, SD and a bunch of the left leaning independents. If they held the equivalent of a primary and put 1 or 2 candidates up in each constituency wouldn't they have a real shot at power?

Captain Scarlet

The left would need to agree and put ego aside as well as focusing on their differences.

Bríd Smith was a joke on Virgin TV last night. Blaming the government for people not going to vote...surely if they are your supporters not being arsed it's on you.

Then she said the left alliance didn't exclude Labour. But then said Labour didn't say sorry for austerity...

Then it was Mary Lou for not pushing a left bloc in time.

Meanwhile FF and FG can say F it and work away.

them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

The PBP are purer than pure 1930s Marxists.
And that Smith one is the worst of them all.
