Probably their biggest crime on top of all that is giving it to the USA.

Severe contradiction in terms in that last sentence.

Apparently Norway are going to refuse to play them. Italy are also rumoured to be going the same way but they have a playoff with Germany to play first. If Germany end up in the group they'll definitely bend over backwards to accommodate them.

The Norwegian Football Association has announced its rejection to compete against the Israeli national team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for Europe, citing the ongoing Israeli war against Gaza since October 7, 2023, the Safa news agency reported.
Israel's Ynet News, and other media sources, didn't convey the news as a final Norwegian decision not to compete against the Israeli team. However, it reported that Norway wanted the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to investigate the Israeli crimes against Palestinians before the World Cup qualifier.
Norwegian Football Association President Lise Klaveness said that "the Norwegian Football Association stands with the Norwegian government in its demand for an immediate end to the disproportionate attacks on innocent civilians in Gaza."
She added,
"The draw is difficult for us, beyond the purely sporting aspect. None of us can remain indifferent to the disproportionate attacks that Israel has inflicted on the civilian population of Gaza over a long period of time."
Klaveness went further, stating that Norway is actively involved in calls for sanctions against Israel on the international stage.
"Israel is still part of (the Union of European Football Associations) UEFA competitions. We have to deal with that. We are following the situation closely with FIFA, UEFA and the Norwegian authorities," she added.
According to Safa, Klaveness's statements were first published on the Israeli Channel I24.
The Norwegian national team is scheduled to play its matches against Israel on March 25 and October 11. However, "the association's decision to boycott raises uncertainty about whether these fixtures will proceed," Safa reported.

Shamrock Rovers and Chelsea fined by UEFA over chants during Conference League tie
Updated / Thursday, 23 Jan 2025 12:38

Shamrock Rovers and Chelsea have each been fined by UEFA over chants heard at their Conference League match last month.

The Hoops have been fined €10,000 for "transmitting a message that is not fit for a sports event" following chants about the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the match at Stamford Bridge on 19 December.

Chelsea fans responded with an anti-IRA chant. The London club have also been fined €10,000 by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB).

Rovers lost 5-1 but still finished 10th in the League Phase of the competition to earn a place in the knockout play-off round, where they will face Norwegian side Molde over two legs next month.

The first leg in Norway will take place on 13 February, with the return at Tallaght Stadium a week later.

In between, on Sunday, 16 February, Stephen Bradley's side will kick off their SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division campaign with a Dublin derby against Bohemians which will be held at the Aviva Stadium.

Bayer Leverkusen favourites to sign Evan Ferguson.
Is he yet another overhyped Irish soccer player who is destined to be back playing LOI in about 5 years?

A few years back we had a week in the premiership were Connolly, parrot, obafemi and idah all scored. It was all looking very exciting for Irelands future attacking options. Fast forward to today and not one of those lads has really done much

His injury record for someone so young is very worrying. I don't know where how far he will go but he will need to sort out his injury problem before he goes anywhere. You couldn't put him in a team as he'd be injured shortly after.

Captain Scarlet

I think in fairness some of the injuries were contact or twisting as opposed to muscles and a recurring one. I'd hope he comes back right and Christ Bayer would be an amazing football education.

Connolly and Obafemi are not clever players and there's not much coaching them. Idah seems to lack belief. Like when he does get some fire he can play. Parrott is easing back into the higher levels, but he was caught up in the hype a bit. He's only young still.

A fit Parrott and Ferguson are two lads that you would think compliment each other.

In terms of the overall scene it's mad how Doherty is back at it for Wolves. He is a lovely footballer and playing in that back 3 allows him to step up safely. If he was to go back in, it'd only be there and no a wing back or right back, but you can't ignore him.

them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

Doherty is so frustrating because there is blatantly ability there but there doesn't appear to be much effort. He must put more in at club level than he does for Ireland because any time I see him there's just no application.

I hope Ferguson clears up the injuries. The potential is there definitely and Leverkeusen would be a great place to learn. Great to see Parrott hitting form.

West Ham are in a strong position to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton after Bayer Leverkusen's need for a new forward was lessened by Al-Nassr choosing Jhon Durán over Victor Boniface.

Leverkusen emerged as front-runners for Ferguson this week but their interest could cool after Boniface's proposed move to the Saudi Pro League was called off at the last minute.

Al-Nassr are poised to sign Durán from Villa, with the 21-year-old set to undergo a medical on Thursday.

West Ham have been alerted to Brighton deciding that Ferguson is available on a loan or a permanent deal. However there is a lot of competition, with Arsenal, Leverkusen, Everton, Bournemouth and Tottenham making inquiries about the Republic of Ireland striker, and West Ham have drawn up contingency plans
