Quote from: marty34 on April 07, 2025, 03:22:58 PMWill all these tariffs/counter tariffs have an effect on house prices?

Don't know tbh, but if talk of a global recession comes to pass I'd say that's likely to result in lower house prices and interest rates. I'm certainly no expert in this, but last time there was a global recession post 2007, house prices fell through the floor.

House prices took 4 years to fall through the floor and the global recession was due to madness in the housing market.

Be surprised if a recession made any difference in Dublin. Everyone been saying during covid, Ukraine, inflation, etc.... this can't continue but the simple fact is there is a housing shortage and buyers (especially in south Dublin) being propped up mummy and daddy's monopoly money.

People were saying all those same things before the 2007 crash.
House prices in the North I'm told are back to 2008 levels, so it wouldn't take much to push them back down. I dont think it would be wise to base the wider market around what's happening in Dublin.
If I was buying my first home or moving home I wouldn't be overly concerned as I'd need to buy and as interest rates fluctuate i'll be affected to a certain degree - but when it comes to a 2nd home or investment property, maybe safer to wait a wee while and see what happens.

This carry on at present makes the events of 2008 look stable. It's the unpredictability this time with the Orange Bafoon that has markets on edge and all over the place. They/we don't know from one day to the next what madness he is going to unleash with no apparent checks and balances in place to stop him. The team around him are just as batshit crazy as he is.

Just finished season 2 of 1923. Last episode is nearly 2hrs long. Am a bit meh about it. Watchable. Looks to be the end of the line for 1923. Am sure Taylor Sheridan will milk the shit out of Yellowstone for a while yet with plenty of other decades to mix not least 1944 up next with Matthew McConaughey.

Quote from: illdecide on April 04, 2025, 10:35:05 AMNo one would deny the Ulster Council messed up, Jasus they'd secretly admit that themselves but a lot of you are missing the point here. This is the Union and DUP saying F**K you fenians, you're getting f**k all from us. They are currently proud of themselves for stalling the project. It's exactly the same with the Irish signs at the new Train station...no one is doubting they messed up by not having them on the original signage and to spend that money on new signage is ludicrous but the Union and the DUP do not want anything Irish, it's not about the money for them, it's just because it Irish.
They still have it in their heads that support for the GAA is like buying weapons for the IRA, that's how they've always thought and haven't changed one bit. They gave £50m for a fecking ICE Bowl in one of the strongest loyalist areas in the Country and no one batted an eyelid and make no mistake about it if they had plans to upgrade Windsor Park the money would be found from somewhere.
They want us all to die or go away, or as they put it..."go back home to Dublin", the irony from English and Scottish settlers.
So to recap, yes we have shot ourselves in the foot and seem to be quite good at it but please don't lose sight of what this is all about...It's anti Irish...FULL STOP!!!

Pointing out the Dup are anti-Irish is pretty much irrelevant/background noise in my eyes.
The issue for me is that the Ulster council/the GAA/SF basically made life so much easier for them and the British by being so inept at managing the whole project and the stuff that was under their control.

Exactly. The Ulster Council are so inept that if the money were to be found, I'd have absolutely no faith that the Ulster Council could deliver the project on time and on budget. Everyone knows who exactly the DUP are and what they are about, so that's no shock to anyone. But the Ulster Council have made it easier for them to object.

Really don't understand why this project can't be started with the funds available. Progress it in phases over the years. Build one stand now, the opposite one in a few years' time and eventually close in the ends. Work with what you have and get the fecking thing started. That's the best way to stick two fingers up to the naysayers.

100%. The Casement project has been mismanaged at every single stage in its history. Smacks of desperation now!

Quote from: GraceO'Malley on March 28, 2025, 07:00:21 AMFemale perspective here on the Turkey hair, I know for men losing their hair is a big deal but actually I find it attractive and sexy (lucky for my husband!). There's something about Turkey hair that just doesn't look natural, it looks like brushed out pubic hair or something. On the other hand if it makes you happy go for it - how we feel about our appearance impacts our mental health too.
Replica football jerseys should only ever be worn to a match of said team.
Exercise gear(especially tracksuits) should only be worn for exercise purposes or around the house.
It's hard for men, there's not a lot of choice out there when it comes to clothes or for some it can be very bewildering too.

Didn't realise my wife was posting on here!

Hair was thinning mid 20's, didn't give it a second thought, week before I was married I had my last visit to the barbers, a really neat short cut and there after I cut my own hair, she was horrified because the wedding and all but nah, it had to go, never looked back.

Young ones today have to deal with social media and that must be the the main factor for the Turkey teeth/hair boom. the pressure to look better, not that I'm on dating sites the must common one now is looking for a man 6 foot minimum!

Men are more and more having to live up to the social demands than woman have had to deal with for hundred of years more, we don't seem to be developing confident people who are happy in their own skiN.

That said rep tops need to be used for going to the game be it club or county, and soccer tops need to be put in the bin if you are over 18 ;)

I'd be single nowadays, 5'6, bald and no shinny teeth! be great  ;D  be a millionaire now

For years I wasn't confident or hap out in my own skin. Tried to fit in etc. now I just think feck it, I'll do my hair how I want, wear what I want and sod anyone who doesn't like it

100% this. Am too old to give a shite what anyone else thinks of me appearance or otherwise. Nor do I give two shites about what anyone else looks like or how they want to live their lives.

McFaul played the 1st day out Vs Tyrone & played 70mins vs Galway and hasn't been since. What's his injury?

The way we shipping goals u need Rodgers at full bck, who i worry going to be off the pace after a ankle injury, anyway. So who goes to Midfield. Probably should be Higgins but he's only played a couple of games. McFaul the other option been out injured ages.

You'd imagine 6-8 weeks with no complications. As much as more injuries aren't ideal, Tohill's injury is not a disaster by any means.
What's McFaul's injury? When did he last play? Will he be available vs Donegal?
Will Rodgers be OK to play vs Donegal?
Lynch is ages away apparently? Any update on the severity of his injury?
What's Lachlan Murrays injury?
Paudi McGrogan still not up to full tilt, could be a bit away from that as with ACL injuries.
Cormac Murphy has made the last couple of benches, but hasn't got many minutes.
McCluskey got another operation last week, season over.
McKinless ACL season over.
Donnacha Gilmore, confirmed season over?

Would love to see a senior panel named for the championship, the same was the u20 panel was named.

All of this and we'll still have people blaming Paddy Tally if/when it doesn't go as we'd like.

Not all Tally's fault. But he's not good enough to be Derry Manager and he hasn't improved the team. Those are the facts.

You may be right but you're expressing an opinion and not a fact. To be fair to Tally I think if Gallagher had that injury list he'd have been relegated also. Tally deserves to be judged when we've a relatively injury free panel. We actually led in 3 of the games after 55 minutes but our panel wasn't strong enough to see out matches. With some players back we might have a chance to bring on decent standard subs.

Exactly. Very hard to judge anything, given the long injury list and not having a full hand to work with. Any Derry manager would struggle with that. It would take its toll on most counties, most notably Galway, a couple of years ago, who got a pass to a degree with most of the press etc.

Feck me the injuries keep on coming.
You boys are a laugh majority say Tohill not up to it and as soon as he's injured it's a big deal.
No one on the board picks the Derry team so our opinion is just that. P Tally has consistently picked Tohill as a starter and has now lost him as an option. The comment was factual that the injuries keep coming no one has yet to make it into a big deal. Any injury to any player in any county which causes them to miss a championship match or matches is surely something that can be commented on.
Fair enough highlighting it, he appears to be well short of what is needed for Derry to compete and that has been highlighted by a number of supporters on here, yet when he is injured it comes across as a big loss?

You're reading one person's opinion and taking it as everyone's. In other words, you're a fool

Hold on a sec.

That is exactly what I have done. Highlighted it. Where exactly in my post have I said it was a big loss or commented anything about Tohill's performances - good or bad? I was simply pointing out we have lost another player to injury and it's another headache for Tally.

I pity a man that should be on a high with his county but has f**k all better to do than troll a thread of another county. Sad wee man but good luck to you Statto.

Thats a bit harsh. He was getting a lot of criticism and it may have been too much to cope with. Deleting his social media so that the intolerant left cannot abuse him more seems like a reasonable action.

People are allowed to criticise others. That's not cancellation.

He deleted his own social media. It was not done to him. He has not been cancelled.

Who else was going to delete them? Are you saying anyone can delete someone else social media account?

The problem with modern society is that everyone has become so polarised that no one can have a conversation around any of this without being pigeonholed into being either on the far left or the far right.

Works of GPS. It'll have a fixed GPS base station which the robot gets its positioning from. Be accurate to a few centimeters. It'll have its boundaries set up at the start based on GPS position and after that it just goes up and down - all day every day.
