Cost effective Floodlights?

Our club is investigating the possibility of upgrading our fairly basic floodlights.Circumstances mean we have only 1 playing pitch,and therefore we will have to light our main pitch-which will restrict us in terms of grant funding.We also have no accessible 3 phase supply,meaning we will have to have fairly basic system under low wattage,or use a generator.
I realise that the most up to date lights,even in club venues are high quality but expensive to purchase and to run.Has anybody out there got knowledge of lighting systems.We are working to a very limited budget,and will probably have to plump for training lights only.Anybody got any thoughts on cost effective lighting systems,or knowledge of least expensive purchase of lights,poles,generator-even secondhand.
