Liverpool should pay this guy to oversee transfers, he'd keep them right.

Sure that cant be right. StGalls said he was going to Manchester sure.

Oh dear!   LFC didn't really learn from the Andy Carroll episode did they?     Once again, like the dole family winning the lottery,  they can't wait to get the Coutinho money spent even before the cheque arrives just to show everyone else they are part of the big league and can "outbid" even City!  😁  £75m would've gone a long way to sorting out defence and GK.  But no....blowing the budget on making a statement of intent is much more important! 😉

I remember Man Utd spending £30m on Rio Ferdinand back in the day (15 years ago in fact). A year after spending nearly the same amount on Veron! One worked out the other was not as successful!

I rather a club over spend on a decent centre half than watch parasites like the Glaziers siphon the money to a Bank a/c in America!

Lovren should still get a good price in the market. Klavan is cover and Gomez will move to centre in time. TAA and Robertson, clyne upon return, Moreno and up til 3am Jon Flanagan. Better back line than many. Vvd and Matip, with Gomez and Robertson is pretty solid.

Keeper? No way that karius or mignolet can be allowed to continue as number one.

Can probably gone, would be surprised to see coutinho go this winter.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

I'd rather United overspent on top players than paying Glazer dividends too.  If Van Dijk turns out to be another Rio (incidentally also the world's most expensive defender at the time) then £75m will be money well spent.  Time will tell and I hope he works out.... ;)

Since Liverpool's new signing odds for next season have slashed.. 12/1, good money

Paying a fcukload of money for a mediocre player gives the impression you've signed a star.

Someone of influence at Anfield believes this.

Man City where chasing him so that is his worth
Get used to these sort of transfer fees for decent players to any club
Once couthino goes he will pay for VVD and  kieta
To stenghen a bad defence these days is going to cost hundreds of millions
The two biggest spenders in premier league this last ten years have been Man City followed by Man U
Look at the table
It's money ball

Keita is not a defensive midfielder.. I can't get over the obvious (if laughable) racism involved in assuming a diminutive African midfielder is a Kante-alike.

I don't think you're coming off as smart as you think you are.
That was never a square ball!!

More along the lines of - all Liverpool's media team are still on holiday and they sent a shirt to his house and told him to get his own picture taken!

On the transfer/fee - it is an extravagant price tag, even by today's standards, however if he performs the fee will be forgotten. Largely irrelevant in today's game if they produce the goods. Case in Point is Mane and Salah - both were seen to be 'over the top' prices, but performances have dictated otherwise. As a player he is a strong, dominating ball player which Liverpool have been missing, especially the dominating part! Hopefully Gomez can move into cb and the two young lads and Clyne occupy the full back positions.

Now for a safe pair of hands....

He was valued at 50m in the summer and goes for 75m six months later, when not even playing well.

I think it would have took about £60m in the summer, but he wasn't for sale. Think the price went up due to the huge mess that Liverpool made in the summer and the fact that Southampton knew other clubs were interested.
