Evening folks, reviving an old thread with a desparate and very hopeful plea....

I'm looking for tickets for any of the Luke Combs concerts in Belfast or Dublin - ideally 4 but 2 would suffice  :P

I want to give 2 family members something to look forward to as it's very much needed for them.

If anyone has any leads on this between now and October pleeeeeeease let me know :)

Tried toutless Emmett?

Will give it a go. Cheers

General discussion / Online dating advice
June 28, 2022, 11:01:18 PM
Evening all.

I've been single for about 6 months now, 35 years old and I'm ready to move on. I've always found it difficult to meet the right type of girl in a pub/club so seriously considering the world of online dating.

Has anyone got any tips on the below topics and beyond these? Any help would be brilliant!

* Photos. Obviously vital but what type of photos? How many?

* Bio. Blank? Short but sweet? Deep and meaningful? Pure humour? If anyone has written a good bio don't be shy on posting it here lol

* Which apps/sites are best in Ireland? I assume paying monthly will give better results.

* Opening line advice for matches. Presumably most ladies are not going to want a generic "Hey, how are you?"

This world is completely new to me and a bit daunting tbh

Heading down to Galway city in a few weeks for 2 nights with the better half and I'm hoping for a bit of advice - especially given the current climate....

* What pubs would be a good option? We are both double jabbed. Ideally just walk in but if they need to be booked in advance so be it.

* Any recommendations on Restaurants? Middle of the road prices but decent grub obviously....

* Any fun activities or things to see?

* Do we need to show proof of vaccinations? I've been purposely avoid the news for the sake of my head so don't judge the lack of knowledge on this lol

Thanks again to everyone for the advice and support.

What specifically is the wording in your contract?

CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND CONFIDENTIALITY

"Whilst in the employment of ........., you must not carry out any other business or employment without the written consent of the company."

Then it goes on about confidentiality.

Thanks all, some great advice - especially when my head is melted so not thinking clearly.

I can confirm that there are many others in the company running their own small businesses in their own time. One has confirmed to me that they have not asked permission and I would imagine the majority of the remainder are the same.

I like that list from MR and I did think about recording the conversation.

There is absolutely no conflict of interest but I do think they want me and others "out the door." A colleague who spent 14 years at the company felt the need to leave last week and a man of 33 years service has went AWOL due to how he has been treated.

Hi folks.

Wonder can someone on here offer me some advice?

I am employed full time in Lisburn and have recently started my own business on the side. This will completely be weekend work and will not interfere in any way with my main Monday - Friday job. There is no conflict of interest there either in terms of the nature of the job.

Today I have received a letter inviting me to an investigation meeting addressing allegations of gross misconduct due to carrying out other business without the company's consent. There is a conflict of interest section in my contract where this is mentioned but TBH I did not even consider this as my business will not have any effect on my main job. Perhaps very green/silly of me I know.

Aside from this my department has lost 4 colleagues in the past 2 years and only 1 has been replaced. There are now 4 of us carrying out the work of 6/7 people. I voiced my concerns about this last week. During my latest colleague's exit interview the HR Manager asked him if I was really as busy as I said I was and if I was under as much pressure as I claimed. Surely this is not allowed?

My boss who is a rude and difficult man told a colleague to refuse to take on extra work and to pass the customers on to me as "it will get him out of bed in the morning!!". A completely ridiculous and unfounded statement/claim!

I am now concerned I will be sacked next week.

Please advise  :(

Get a solicitor.

Is there a company rep that will go in with you for this?

Looks like they are itching to get rid, have found a loop hole with the 'other business'

They sound like a lovely bunch to work for :o

Thanks MR.

I will bring a trusted colleague with me for the meeting.

Yes it really does seem like that. Why I do not know. I keep my head down and have not given them any issues until I calmly voiced my concerns last week

Would any of you fine folk be able to offer me some advice please? I am replacing a shower enclosure and have the 2 slide doors removed. However the 2 sides which are mounted to tiles are not budging. Screws removed and Stanley knife slid through the silicone on both sides. Despite this they are as solid as before I started to work on them, almost as if they are glued down the centre. I'm afraid of cracking the tiles.....help  :o

DW40, try that

Cheers MR2. Will give it a go

Yeah the above comments are my sentiments exactly.

I've asked for a sales man to give me a call and I've also emailed a question.

Credit Card would be the way to go. I'm a risk taker but will definitely air on the side of caution until I've investigated a bit more.

Usedcarsandonline.com

Does anyone have experience of using the above company?

I'm astounded by the prices which they claim to be so low because they buy repossessed cars in large volumes.

If something seems too good to be true it usually is but its worth checking out...

I haven't been on here in a while but would like some advice if someone could be so kind.

A friend of mine works in Belfast but has been working from home at her parents in Fermanagh.

Today she received word that as of next week she has to return to the office and start working from there again. They are staggering workers back to the office.

She has very bad asthma and suffers with anxiety.

Can they enforce this given the UK governments stance of if you can work from home you must?

She does not feel comfortable with this plan whatsoever!
