Stanford (in white) had just scored a TD to take the lead in the dying seconds, after completing a remarkable comeback. and that kick-off was the final play of the game. The California bears got in for a touchdown after making 5 lateral passes to keep the ball alive. The reason the Stanford band had ran onto the field was because they thought the ball had gone dead at the first tackle. I think Joe Montana or was it John Elway that was QB for Stanford that day. Im sure someone might correct me on that.

Just remembered, Did anyone see the video messege from Kevin Everett before the BIlls-pats game. It was a nice touch, but didnt exactly rally the troops. Good to see he's doing well. They say he'll be able to live somewhat of a normal life now.

What happens all the players that don't make the nfl there must be loads of player who once their college career is over thats it no more  football for them.

Some if not all will have some form of college education. Thats a requirement I think. As Ive never been in the states longer than a week I really dont know if they quit altogether, but im sure theres a senior mens league somewhere for people who want to keep playing. But I would imagine it wouldnt come close to what they'd have been used to in high school or college in terms of spectators

how many quarterbacks are available for draft each year ?

Theres no limit on them. Just a limited number of good ones. Of all the players that leave college only a small fraction end up in the NFL and fewer still become successful.

The Browns drafted Couch and Courtney Brown, both first overall picks, now out of the league (Brown was with Broncos last year, they cut him), Jeff Faine was a first round pick, cut. William Green was also cut, i think.

Wonder will Brady Quinn get a look in at all, Anderson is doing a good job. Is Charlie Frye still on their roster??

It was followed by the greatest ever non-celebration of a goal - true GAA style.

I like the slap on the head he gets from Staff, its as if to say, what you doing up this end of the field ya lug!! get back and defend, good goal by the way.........!!

For me the greatest moment while as great as that was, Ollie Murphy's goal vs Westmeath at the death in 2001, 9 points down at half-time to comeback and pull an outragous goal out of no-where, to level it. He was falling over and still managed to put it in the top corner. It seems to be over looked but for me it was like watching a miracle.

A friend who recently built a new house has installed a Wood pellet system for their heating (which is underfloor), it is some operation, basically a large burner is in his garage and Balcas (from Fermanagh) provide him with the pellets delivered in much the same way as you would get an oil delivery, it's quite new to me, maybe others have more experience of it, but it looks a great system.  He also got 50% back from the Gov't for the costs of the system as he was using Energy Efficient fuel.  So the initial outlay is not as bad as you would think, it was circa £3,500.00 to install I think (after the rebate).

Ive seen them at trade-shows, looks good alright. How much is a load do you know? does it last long?

There was a bus outside work last week, ran on Vegetable oil or some derivative. Jaysus the smell was rank. It was like an industrial size chipper van.

Yes there is supposed to be bit of a smell of it. Ive never been around one, does it smell whilst next to the exhaust like any other vehicle or no-matter where you are.

One of the guys I work with runs a diesel VW Jetta off biofuel. I think, although I cant be certain, that he runs it at 100%.

Do you know if he re-fit the engine for it or what? Whats the price of a litre of Bio anyway?

PS If you havent already, check out the tesla roadster, it looks pure class

With fuel costs going mental,(and climate change, but price is what people really seem to care about) I was just wondering if there is any viable alternative to the usual petrol or diesel vehicles. Saw an interesting piece on Bio-diesel. I know that it is mixed in at 5% and 30% with regular diesel. Some cars can run on 100% Bio-Diese. Does anyone here use Bio-Diesel. What cars can run on it? can old diesel cars be retro fitted to suit 100% Bio.

Heres another interesting thing i came across. Perhaps a worthwhile investment for those in food crop production and agriculture.

"Biodiesel production also plays a useful role in agriculture. Under the current Common Agricultural Policy, the arable raw materials needed for biodiesel production may be grown on set-aside land which would otherwise be taken out of production."

At the recent Los Angeles Motor Show, new car models that ran on electric, hydrogen cells, bio-diesel actually out-numbered those that ran on fossil fuels. Those of note included:

The VW Space Up!
Chevrolet Volt: has a hybrid engine that runs on electricity for the first 45 miles, has solar pannels integrated on its roof.
Tesla Roadster: fully electric sports car. 0-60 four seconds, 125 top speed, modelled on Lotus Ellise, costs 2 cent a mile to run, according to their website ( http://www.teslamotors.com/ ) will do the equivelent of  :o 135 miles to the gallon  :o ...........................oh and it costs £50,000

I think AZoffaly covered everything I was going to say. The big thing about it is, the defense know that your options are limited at this stage. They wont have to worry about stopping the run so much, can back off a bit and make sure the sidelines are well covered. For a guy playing in his first Superbowl, its even more remarkable. Most lads would cack themselves. It was reminiscent of Kevin Foleys goal against the Dubs in 91  ;D

Two great QBs of the future were on display last night. Tony Romo and Jason Cambell. Romo is reminding me of Brett Favre, Cambell could have led the Skins to an unlikely win but for some rookie errors and great pressure from Ware at DE for the Cowboys. Cambell doesnt have a target like Terrell Owens that Romo has, not that the Skins WR corps are bad, Randel -El and McCardell are good players but not like TO where its nearly always a serious mis-match. (By the way does anyone think TO has changed, he is preaching being a team-player and thanking God, but did hint at being "under-apprechiated". Does that translate into "Im not getting paid enough" or what)

The astonishing thing (well, one of many) about Brady is that he was the 199th pick in the draft and only made it into the team because Drew Bledsoe was injured. As the Americans would say, go figure.

Its all down to hard work. Supposedly does alot of extra hours training and examining plays and opposition. I know there are alot of people out there who dont like him, due to publicity(esp, the one where he slept with 3 super models, at the same time or on seperate occasions i dont know, lucky bastard) but everything he's got he's worked for and the reason he's that damn good is down to his work ethic.

If anyone watches America's Game on Saturday morning, there was a great piece on the Pats when they won thier first SB, Brady was still very much not rated nor were the Pats. Brady found his coaches QB notes, it had the run-down on him and Bledsoe and whoever else was on the roster but for Brady they had a long list saying, "He's too slow" "doesnt read the game quickly enough" and so he took it on himself to speed up his game.
