I'm sure people are going to go ballistic (no pun intended) when I ask this question, but what exactly did Hamas hope to accomplish by the attacks on October 7th?

Was it a revenge attack for decades of oppression on the Palestinians?

Was it an attempt to start a war?

Was it an attempt to derail the normalization of relations between Israel and other Muslim Countries?

Netanyahu was like Tyson Fury on Saturday night and would likely have been removed from office. Why did they give him this lifeline ?

On a scale of 1-10 how did they think Israel would respond ? (1 being do nothing, 10 being dropping a nuke)

There are thousands of Palestinians detained by the IDF. I believe the intention was to take hostages so as to negotiate prisoner swaps.
Personally feel like this was a setup and Israel wanted an atrocity to react to so they could flatten Gaza and claim it for themselves.

History is written by the victors. Plenty of evil bastards on both sides of nearly every conflict in history. America and it's allies are every bit as bad as Russia.

In any conflict, the country/coalition doing the invading are almost certainly the bad guys, whatever lies or excuses they make, be that Russia invading Ukraine or USA et al invading Iraq.

What I understand from his later justifications it's even more bizarre. Kenny claimed that it would not have been a red card tackle in his day, therefore it wasn't a red card tackle.

I think he's just doubling down on his initial decision. Doesn't want to back down. A clown.

Yesterday's game, like this year's league, was very hard work by Celtic.  Poor stuff. Should have beaten them out the gate by 4 or 5 goals.  Typical 2-0 up then conceding straight away. Just typical of this season.

Point still stands. Board need to invest big time now. Players like Scales, Harte and Taylor etc. are clearly not at the right standard. Celtic need serious investment.  That should start right now instead of their usual messing about in August.

This will bring in more money via Champions League and good chance Matt O'Riley will go for £10m+.

Thoughts on the very large protest versus the very small counter protest in Dublin today? The Shinners didn't seem to be popular with the majority of protesters.

The Irish are the biggest hypocrites on the planet with regard to immigration. The Irish government were lobbying the Biden administration recently regarding undocumented Irish in the US. Currently estimated at about 50K in number. (probably all unvetted military age males as well, shock horror)

There's no doubt that an element of proper Far Right will try and infiltrate protests but just seen a clip of the residents of Newtown Mount Kennedy marching and it's a seriously large group of people. Are all those people 'Nazifascist'? Are they the ones that have blocked access to the local GAA pitch?

It also didn't look good the other night when Drew Harris's Riot Squad were intimidating people on their own property, it was like the troubles had moved to Wicklow.

Sorry state of affairs all around and it's the Irish Government that are completely to blame for creating this mess.
