Gary Cox, Karl Mannion, Senan Kilbride & Mickey Finneran were our stars yday. Leitrim had no forwards that could take a score from distance, hence Roscommon won this game pulling up. Leitrim appeared to have gone back alot under M&M, however I wish them all the best in the qualifers and hope they win a game or two, their vocal supporters deserve something more than a morale victory. Did not get to see the Junior game, but a 5 point win over the rhubarbs is welcome anytime at any grade.

Tis a good question, easy at first sight. I believe it envolves a long series of combinations & permutations ie on go one the ch ances you dont pull out a 7 are 19/20 * go 2 you dont pull out a 7 19/20 * go 3 lets say you do pull out a 7 1/20 ie 361/8000. Then add up all these very combinations all 12. I cant be arsed meself. Come to think of it there is probably an easier way, been out of the game a long time now!.

1         2                  3                                4                                   up to 12
1/20 +19/20*1/20+ 19/20*19/20*1/20 + 19/20*19/20?*19/20*1/20+.........

Are you replacing cards after each go? ie if you pull a 2 on go one do you put it back in the deck

Vote No. Europe is now dictating everything from cutting turf to cutting hedgerows. Uniform cooperate tax for all members. Whats mine is mine & what yours is mine attitude from  France & Germany. Germany tried to exterminate half the population of Europe. Those guys should never have been allowed to have political autonomy. As for those ignorant French, the ultimate pig ignorant nation.

Mundy singing the "Galway girl" . Loved that song written & sung excellently by Steve Earle. Now every bollix in the country is going around singing it, thanks to that hippie twat. Offaly man - he should be out footing the turf instead of wrecking a perfectly good song. ;D

Having to pay stamp duty on a home I intend to use as a family base. The state has rode me black & blue now they want to ride me again, when I am trying to do my best & provide, like a good husband/ daddy should do. All this money is going to kunts claiming the dole & making twice as much money as me on the sly, also refugees getting everything for f*ck all. Sickens me

Leitrims inability to score from play will cost them. Mulligan is an excellent freetaker, however they lack scoring forwards. Expect their defence & midfield to go well, however when you cant score from play you are limited against a team that can. Plenty of spirit will see them lose by no more than 6 points. The quicker games come back to the spiritual home of Galway football - Tuam - the better. That Sathill is the greatest b*tch of a place to get in & out of, & lacks character that Tuam,Carrick, Ros or Castlebar have on big match days. Expect a mute crowd of about 12k or so.

Very poor performance by Galway. I realise that in the end we won easily but there was a lot wrong with our performance. I think the fact we were playing Ros made us look a lot better than we actually were.

1. P. Doherty: Made two very good saves but his kickouts were terrible. I do not think he has the ability to vary his kickouts at all. With our current midfield, It would be good if we had a keeper that could place the ball towards a wing-forward. I wasnt overly keen on Alan Keane when he was in there but in fairness, his kickouts were pretty good

2. K. Fitzgerald: A decent performance and hopefully he can improve on it as the summer progresses

3. F. Hanley: Extremely poor in the first half when KilBride was giving him a good roasting. Luckily for him, very little ball went in the second half. Poor game but he is a class player and will have a good year

4. G. Bradshaw: Looked a little suspect when Ros were on top. Sending off suited him as he ended up being the extra man and wasnt confined to corner back. Still very much untested at No.4

5. D. Meehan: Very poor performance. Lost his man too easily for Roscommons first goal chance. Contributed very little going forward as well.

6. N. Coyne: Thought he was Galways 3rd best player, picked up a few breaks and was always willing to carry the ball out of defence

7. G.Sice: Like Meehan, I thought he was ineffective throughout the game. When Ros were on top, Sices man was causing a lot of damage. I noticed Joyce giving him a bit of a blinding during this time as well.

8. Cullinane: Terrible in the first half but improved a lot in the second half. He is our best midfielder at the moment but he needs to learn so much. He should have been sent off as well for a really stupid kick when you are already on a yellow card. That was at a time when Galway were not on top and could have been costly. Can we rely on Cullinane not to something like this in a more important match aginst a better team?

9. M.Lydon: Poor, Will need to improve to keep Coleman off the team. Bergin would displace him straight away as well.

10. D. Dunleavy: He went off at a strange time. Was he injured? He didnt do much in the first half. Sammon seems to have a lot of confidence in Dunleavy as he has done nothing to earn his place so far.

11. P. Joyce: Decent game, sprayed the ball around nicely

12. P. Conroy: Awful first half, Looked like nerves (Remember his first free) but a really top notch second half. Looks like a class act. Bizzare to see him start corner forward and then switched out to half forward after about 5 minutes

13. M. Clancy: Our best player today. Won so many breaks and got a few nice scores

14. M. Meehan: Poor game, Needs to improve big time as the summer goes on. Also, this thing he does of dropping the ball on purpose when hes about to get blocked will catch up with him

15. F. Breatnach: Again, the jury is still out on him. Really needs to get score more to justify his selection. But he started wing forward, then was moved into the corner and at the start of the second half was out wing forward again. Management need to realise that this will affect a players performance

Look, I realise that Galway won very easily but this was not a good performance. They were extremely bad in the last 15 minutes of the first half. They improved a little at the start of the second half with a couple of quick points that put them 5 points up. Then the sending off came which really did have an effect on the match. (Galway would have won anyways but that sending off made Roscommons heads go down). The quick points at the beginning of the second half & the sending off is what beat Roscommon. Suddenly they were 10-04 down and they hadnt played too badly!

Interesting by Sammon to put Bane on ahead of Nicky Joyce. Coleman & Mullahy should have been introduced earlier as well. Both looked very eager for action when they came on. Also, Why was Barry Cullinane brought on again? Why not bring on Diarmuid Blake or even give a debut to Tom Hughes? Surely, this would have given them a boost & improved their morale. As the months go by, I can see Damien Burke coming into the number 4 position, Darren Mullahy in at half-back, D. Blake at midfield and N. Coleman at no. 10. Nickey Joyce will also be brought in for F. Breathnach. It is terrific to see such competition but I worry that Sammon will go tinkering too much (as he did this week in his team selection for the Ros match)

Interesting analysis, but no mention of Galways most influential player on the day - the miserable kunt of a ref  ;D

Excellent post Solo Run, I was of the same opinion. 3 Division 4 teams were playing yesterday. Carlow were hammered. Antrim give Cavan a fair ould scare & Wiclow beat Kildare by 5. So I cant understand how Davis came to the conclusion he did. All I can say is get the thick idiot off the tele he has nothing to offer, using his methodology we mind as well hand Kerry the All Ireland, & maybe let Cork play them in the final. An awful idiot.

Jet skiing - the nautical version of joyriding, but without the excuse of social disadvantage.

Yep. I hate those bloody things!

There is no adjectives in the English language (or Irish) strong enough to describe my hatred of peoples who use these big boys toys. No regard for swimmers or anybody, fit only for the useless fat rednecks that ride them, cause quite frankly its the only way these boys would get any sort of a ride :D ;D.

Not really aware of any great rivalry in North Mayo. Apart from Sligo we re well away from boundaries and we would nt play Sligo too often for it to bitter and they have only beaten us twice in living memory in the championship. Leitrim too would nt be met too often and we would nt begrudge them any success they might have. In 1994 while livid with our defeat in Connacht final nobody begrudged them their win. Sometimes I wonder about how scathing Sligo and Leitrim can be about us. I ve always found that the neutral counties row in behind Galway when Mayo and Galway clash in championship. The Galway border is so far away that while we re aware they re the ones to hate we dont really. Any bitterness we have is reserved for Roscommon for some strange reason other then they re hateful cnts who always side with Galway when we play Galway. Or maybe it was their rabid triumphalism  in the 70s when they had their great team or their obvious delight in our frequent misfortunes in more recent times. Galway fans on the other hand are just glad when we lose so their position as kingpin is nt challenged.

Those comments about Roscommon supporters are complete bollix. Rossies support Galway when the two of yee play, this year (probably because Galway beat Mayo last year) I will support Mayo. Always support any given Connacht team when they come out of the province . Look at the support the Rossies gave Mayo verses Dublin in that excellent semi final 2 years ago & in fairness Mayo supporters gave our minors good support in the final that year. Where I am form numerous locals went to Dublin in 96,97, 04 & 06 to lend their support to poor auld Mayo.

Interesting point Son of Sam, I work with a lad from Ballagh, who considers himself a Mayo man. As he explained that it was originally in Mayo & the boundary was changed roughly 100 years ago, so there could be more large towns in Roscommon. So I can fully understand how Mayo people of that area feel.

The main problem that Rossies have with Ballagh, is the refusual of the local club to allow players who regard themselves as Rossies play for Roscommon - thats draconian. Led to believe Noel Durkan wanted to play for Ros, also Pierce Hanley & Andy Moran.

AZ - like it "out of Westmeath"

The tech bit is a good enough addition to the show. Especially like the dots illustrating the number of steps that westmeath got away with for their goal..

And McStay the Mayo fool had the stupidity to contradict the evidence. "No I dont agree Anthony he tuck 8 steps not 10" The computer is wrong, the Mayo man is right. He should be bet out of Roscommon like the last Mayo lad  ;D. Lyons is another Mayo man thats a fool, Carney is the worst of all.I Like Spillane (wind up merchant), Cinneide & Tohill. O Rourke is a bit of a gobdaa, Brolly a complete tospot. Lyster is a fantastic presenter. Good to have the music back, even if its a gay version of its former self.

Croi na hEireann. My postal address is The Berries,  Kiltoom, Athlone, Co Roscommon. Which is the proven Heart of Ireland by the way. I was brought up in the belief that once you crossed the bridge in Athlone you entered Roscommon. However I believe some gobchite changed the boundary outside the town. However most people on the west side of the town regard themselves as Rossies, even the blow ins.

One thing that really grinds my gears is people who claim Hudson Bay Hotel is in Westmeath, now there you have a "mutually exclusive" statement.

Heres an Athlone Rossie perspective,

Westmeath, dont know why, but hate that shower. Westmeath lads are grand, but hate when the topic turns to football, something they feel they know lots about, always feel they can beat Ros, but rarely do. In saying that delighted to see them doing well lately. Hate losing to them all the same.

Offaly, I respect this county. Always give their all, supporters I always found to be among the most decent.

Longford, Apparently dont like us - is it because we always beat them?

Galway, reasonable level of rivalry. Found them bitter if losing during a game, but wish you well if you manage to beat them. Respect this county even if their supporters only come out in the sunshine.

Mayo. Biggest rivalry of all for a Rossie. Its rarely of late we can beat them, and if we do they are at their most bitter. Hatefull shower, however I would like to see them win an All Ireland soon, think they deserve one, Christ they would be hard to listen too. The women are more bastardised than the men.

Sligo, really feel this  cocky shower should be pittied more than feared. Decent people outside the town, best you can get, but would never consider them footballers.

Leitrim, Admire this crowd in footballing terms, always get themselves up for the Rossies. The people themselves are strange & blighted in some way. Would love to see a really big name coming to Carrick for a qualifier game & getting the same treatment they give the Rossies.
