Supposed team for O'Byrne Cup vs. Kildare:

James McKenna (Seán Connollys); Dermot Brady (Longford Slashers), Barry Gilleran (Longford Slashers), Gerard Farrell (Ardagh); Declan Reilly (Colmcille), Enda Williams (Clonguish), Shane Mulligan (Mullinalaghta); John Keegan (Mullinalaghta), Niall Mulligan (Longford Slashers); David Barden (Clonguish), Joe McCormack (Killoe), Paul Kelly (Longford Slashers); Seán McCormack (Killoe), Paddy Dowd (Clonguish), JJ Matthews (Mullinalaghta).

The Bull is away in the States for a few months, wee Frankie is still recuperating, and the Lost Sheep is otherwise engaged. Podgie Berry got his visa extended last month and won't be back any time soon.

can't say i've ever heard of these 2, take it they are young lads??

McKenna would be around 26 or 27. He was sub goalie on the panel for a while last year.

Anyone catch the Sheepstealers game yesterday?  I'd appreciate a report, anyway?

Microsummary (almost Twitterlike): some played well but very little co-ordination on display, had a lot of chances but missed them (some of them sitters). Sheepshastealers nothing to write home about.

Slightly expanded: backs played well (including Gilleran), forwards could have done with a spot more co-operation, Little Dec was good, BB was BB-like, Williams (shoulder injury) and Sheridan (got injured on one of his prolonged solo runs up the field - not that it'll learn him) will be losses for the next game.

Handy enough draw for Colmcille and Edgytown, on last year's evidence.  ;)

Billys Boots

Alright, I'll choose my words carefully.

It's a handy draw for any team that chooses to take the tournament seriously.  ;)

Group 1 is a lottery as to who comes second along with Slashers.

Group 4 is too evenly balanced for comfort.

In the other two groups, I'd have said there are two obviously stronger and two obviously weaker teams.

Couldn't disagree with that - long time to June though.

don't agree with the assessment of group 1, i think drumlish will definitely come 2nd.
killoe and mostrim to cruise into the quarters along with dromard and colmcille, with abbey and mullinalaghta to get through group 4, clonguish are on a downward spiral.

While I think Drumlish are on the way back up after last year, I wouldn't underestimate Carrickedmond at all.

And I really wouldn't underestimate Clonguish either on the field or off it...

Was that a handy win in Enniskillen I saw, or was I dreaming?
