Shamrock Shore

Favoured teams falling like flies.

Deccie Reilly beat Clonguish on his own I heard!

Hope to see a Mullinyarta v Mostrim other semi final.

After that, who knows.

Slashers to prevail by sheer brute force.

Hard to look forward than Slashers. That defeat was a real set back for Killoe. Mullinalaghta look a good bet at 8/1

Abbeylara 1-8 Mullinalaghta 0-11

Frustrating to let things slip away when you'd been 11-6 up with about 7 minutes left. I expect things to be tougher the next day.

Dromard 2-12 Mostrim 1-6

Poor but even first half, followed by a series of disasters for Mostrim early on in the second half (penalty, second Dromard goal almost immediately afterwards, Hannon going off with an ankle injury, midfielder getting sent off) which seemed to entirely knock the stuffing out of them.

Next weekend:

Quarter final replay between Abbeylara and Mullinalaghta on Saturday, and Slashers-Colmcille semi-final on Sunday.
Leader Cup winners: 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023.

The Insider

While as Laurel Eye says the 1st half was poor but even 2nd half was even poorer, we seemed to have believed the hype about ourselves and multiple changes in formation from previous games along with the belief we are better than we realistically are and the Hannon experiment all blew up in our face . Seeing how Cian Mimnagh played tonight it was hard to believe that he was deemed surplus to requirement for the county . St Columba's need JJ to bet fit for replay to advance,. If Jason Kelly is out for Abbey , Robbie Smyth will surely start .

Abbeylara 1-8 Mullinalaghta 0-10

Another win thrown away; no comeback this time.

Longford Slashers 2-7 Colmcille 1-10

Colmcille were leading by two points with a few minutes left despite "living on scraps" ((c) John Duffy) for the majority of the game but Slashers managed to come back to get the draw. Replay next weekend.

Yes, the person who really should know told me it was on the 15th - I'm thinking I should be getting the hint now alright.

Dromard 2-11 Abbeylara 1-8

There will at least be one team in the county final who will try to play football...

Slashers 0-10 Colmcille 1-6

But only one.
Leader Cup winners: 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023.

The Insider

Will be same in minor, Expect  Northern Gaels v Slashers in both minor and juvenile finals.  Juvenile will be close , while minor will be comfortable for Northern Gaels against whichever of Slashers and Killoe they meet

I see TPTB have decided to schedule our minor semi-final at 3.30 in Edgeworthstown on Saturday, while at the same time having Mullinalaghta play our final Division 1 match in Dromard at 5.45. Either three or four of our minors are expected to play two games in the one evening or we're expected to field an understrength senior team in a match we need to win to have a chance of picking up a first senior trophy in 60 years. Not impressed.

I'm not sure what the rush with Division 1 is in any case; Slashers (who are the only team who can overhaul us at the top of the league) will still have two games to play and will know exactly what scores they need to achieve to take the Division 1 title.

Update: There really mustn't be any rush with Division 1 where Slashers are concerned, as they've now had their match against Killoe postponed until next week, giving them three games in hand after we've finished our league campaign.

Well done to St Columba's , hopefully Killoe can do you a favour and defeat the townies on Tuesday night and give them some reward for their season
