The Insider

Our glorious chairman attempted to change history yesterday adding 10 years to the famine. Also supposedly said in one of his many urgings for Shane Mulligan to come up to the stand s to accept the cup .

It was bad enough and long enough without making it 76 years long.

Not as bad as Liam Tierney on Shiteside saying that this was a fitting end to Shane Mulligan's career  ::)

Whilst disappointed naturally it was a strange at the final whistle. If we had lost to any other team I'd be livid , but maybe what's been shared in the black and green jersey for a couple of decades now marks is as different. Two of the smallest parishes in the county battling it out for Sean Connolly was a pride filled occasion. The better won and controlled the game for 45-50 minutes, Abbey did well to keep it to three. Right now the more western part of the minor club have the better talented players without doubt.

The black and green was first discussed when Nemo Rangers were on the winning run and the late great Peter Sheridan, John Fay and John Reilly gave credence to the fact that it would be unique. First jerseys we worn by the Division 2 Minor League winners of 1992 ( when just 3 teams competed at Div 1 level) .

Anyway, to the likes of the Leonard's, Paddy Early, Christy Reilly, Sean Reilly, The Mulligans, Daniel Lynch, etc etc I salute you and enjoy. Make sure you give the Leinster 1st round a proper go.

Good luck to Mullinalaghta on Sunday in their debut in the Leinster agin Stradbally.

Hope they've been off the porter for at least a week since their famous win.

Excellent display from St Columba's today. Could have won by more . Ineresting few weeks ahead , Eamon Reilly has declared his intention to challenge for the position of chairman of the county board . A çouple other positions will also have to be filled

Jazes - the Stradbally boys would not seem to agree. I heard there were all sorts of shenanigans at the full time whistle with the Stradbally management going for the linesman and the ref. Linesman may have got a belt from a Stradbally selector.

That said, well done Mullinalaghta. Won more game in Leinster now than Mostrim and joint with Abbey I believe.

Great display by the Mullinaghta  but especially the Mc Givney's . They'd be household names if they came from Kerry . If Pallatine can score 8 pts. against Vincent's then why not dare to dream . It's not the size of the dog but the bite . Great to see so many people from clubs across the county and from the Cavan area supporting Mullinaghta

Great stuff from the half-parish.  Dare to dream.
