General discussion / CRO Filing Requirements
February 07, 2012, 04:37:48 PM
Boring title of the year award - but the busy people at CRO are away home for the day and I have a very quick question - is there anywhere on the CRO website which explains what are the filing requirements (signatures etc.) for an audited charity (or any type of company for that matter). I know all of the Act requirements but we had a set of accounts rejected today becuase 'the profit and loss account has not been signed'. Now I honestly don't know the last time I had a P&L account (even though in this case it was a SOFA) signed, being used to UK requirements may have left me ignorant in the ways of our Southern brethren, but I couldn't find any of the helpsheets which stated such obvious things such as 'sign the fecking balance sheet in blank ink' etc.

Just so as I don't make the same mistake again, like.

General discussion / Business Incorporation in the 26
February 03, 2011, 10:01:22 AM
I know we have our fair share of accountants on the board - could one of our Southern counterparts point me in the right direction in regards to setting up a new private limited company limited by shares in the South. I don't fancy drafting memos and articles and filing all with CRO ourselves and would prefer to use a company formation agent - something cheap and cheerful would suffice. Cheers!

General discussion / Linux/Ubuntu Problems
October 07, 2008, 10:51:26 PM
Well folks - do we have any resident 'experts' in Linux or more specifically Ubuntu?

My problem is basically this:
(1) Laptop had a single physical 80Gb drive configured with two partitions: 1st 40Gb running Win XP with mostly Program Files & system, 2nd setup as logical as 40Gb Data Drive
(2) Took a head stagger and decided it was time to embrace Linux so created a Ubuntu bootable CD
(3) Didnt partition until halfway through the installation, selected a manual where I resized the Data drive to 20Gb and created a new 20Gb partition (cannot remember the format - it was the default) - all seemed to be going OK
(4) Boot menu (GRUB?) appears OK on bootup - 3 Ubuntu choices and an XP
(5) Whenever I select XP it just keeps returning me to the boot menu (like a loop)
(6) Loads perfectly into Ubuntu - obviously everything is working perfectly as I am posting on here this evening - I can browse the data drive and the Ubuntu partition with no problems, opened Excel files from the Data drive etc.
(7) Cannot find my original Windows XP C: partition for love nor money

So, as you can see I havent a baldy what I am doing in Ubuntu or how to mend my bootloader so I can boot into XP - can anyone help??

TIA!

GAA Discussion / Ticket Scam
April 10, 2008, 02:14:33 PM
I suppose this could affect all counties:

Strabane Sigersons Press Release:

It has been brought to the clubs attention that a person or persons purporting to be representatives of Strabane Sigersons G.A.A. have been selling tickets for a Development Draw in the Altamuskin/Ballygawley areas of Tyrone.
The tickets bearing the club logo were being sold at £20.00 each or three for £50.00 with a prize fund of £25,000 for a draw to be held on 29th November 2008.
The club have received a copy of one of the tickets purchased and wish to point out that Strabane Sigersons G.A.A. do not have a draw ongoing at present and urge anyone approached to refuse to purchase such, unfortunately it appears that some people have already been conned into doing so!
We have spoken to the Tyrone County Board, our club solicitor and to the P.S.N.I. in Strabane regarding the matter and are appealing to everyone to spread the word that this is a bogus draw.
We urge anyone with any information on the matter to contact the club without delay."

New York from London for £100 return:

Copied from another board obviously - this may well be cancelled but its well worth a try:

Here's how to make an amazing saving on flights to New York if you fly 'Economy Standard' on the eay there and 'Premium Economy' on your return.

Goto Flyzoom.com, then:

----------------

Step 1:

Enter NYUpgrade1 in the promotions code box on the flyzoom.com homepage - this will transfer you to the booking system

----------------

Step 2:

Select your flight and dates to New York i.e. London (Gatwick) to New York (JFK)

----------------

Step 3:

You will now see a list of flights and prices alongside them.

Select 'Economy Standard' for your Depature i.e. a £129 flight

Select 'Premium Economy' for your Return i.e. a £169.75 flight

Click 'Proceed'

----------------

Step 4:

It will now ask you for your seat class selection. Make sure you choose 'Economy Standard' under Depart and 'Premium Economy' under Return

----------------

Step 5:

It will now sure you your 'Itinerary'

When you look at tha table for 'Passenger Listing/Pricing' under Item No.:
1. Is the Departing flight cost at 'Economy Standard' price
2. Is the Return flight at 'Premium Economy' Price
3. Is the £200 discount for the promotion

So for example I got my flights for £129 + £169.75 = £298.75

However...

With the £200 promotional discount it comes down to £98.75 per person

General discussion / Wedding Venues
June 05, 2007, 10:57:52 AM
Hopefully I get plenty of opinions on this - we are trying to book a wedding venue in the next few weeks, we have set a range of somewhere within an hour's drive of Armagh, all advice welcome! Also, is there a reason why most weddings tend to be south of the border? Are there 'black' places worth avoiding?

8. Sit down and relax, it should take about 2 weeks for your item to arrive.
