1-10 to 1-01 at half time. Limerick are very poor. Bright start by hanley and Durcan. Durcan kicked a nice point and put another attempt over the sideline!! Regan has missed 1-3 so far but set up 2 scores, but that's not saying much given how poor limerick are. Loftus will prob come in for him soon

Hanley has looked poor from where I'm sitting, has he forgotten how to kick a football?

I thought he done well in first half. Was available for a pass. Kept it simple and setup first goal. He will improve with games. Definitely football in him.

Hopefully he won't humiliate Caff again like he did above in castlebar the last day. Think that team will start

I was watching him walking off yesterday and he didnt look to happy. I thought it was because he was playing well and wasnt to pleased to be withdrawn but he must have been injured alright. There was no incident around it so I doubt it is to serious.

For anyone that's interested, here's a bit of analysis from the Mayo Cavan Match in Belmullet. Mayo won by 11 points to 4. First of all fair play to all involved in building the new football grounds, very impressive and a massive club house.

To the game itself, there were a couple of factors affecting the play so my judgment of players may not reflect where they are at. It's hard to believe it's the middle of May. It was cold, wet and very breezy. Conditions did improve for the second half though.  Cavan were very lazy and only a number of players showed any real interest. So there wasn't much intensity to the game. Mayo Lined out as follows.

David Clarke, Trevor Howley, Ger Cafferkey, Chris Barrett, Peadar Gardiner, Tom Cunniffe, Kevin Mcloughlin, Tom Parsons, Seamus O'Se, Pat Harte Billy Joe Padden, Alan Dillon, Conor Mortimer (3?), Aidan O'Se (1), Enda Varley (2)

There were so many subs used I can't remember who came on for who, but these were the subs that came on.

Kenneth O'Malley, Liam O'Malley, Kieran Conroy, Donal Vaughan, Ronan Mcgarrity, Aidan Kilcoyne (1), Barry Moran (1), Alan Freeman, Neil Douglas, Shane Nally, Andy Moran (1) Mark Ronaldson (2?)

Not going to rate all the players but best for Mayo were Chris Barrett, Trevor Howley, Tom Parsons, Alan Dillon and Enda Varley. No one really stood out to be honest probably because of the conditions and the lack of interest shown by Cavan. Kilcoyne struck a lovely 45 that was the only score of note. Billy Joe and Alan swapped positions several times but Alan played better on the wing. Tom Parsons played very deep for most of game and Barry Moran got a nice point. He won a high ball in and popped it over the bar from about 20 metres out. He seems to have changed his kicking style. I always had the opinion that he had a very uncomfortable kicking technique but this one was a proper kick!

Mayo are playing Dublin in Hollymount next Friday evening at 7:30

Let me ask this of the Mayo lads who are complaining about JOM, what exactly is he doing wrong and how would you improve it?

M&M and Maughan also got dogs abuse and they also did quite well, could it be simply that Mayo don't have teh players and no manager would win them an AI at the moment?

Zulu. an opinion from a part time supporter!

I think we are missing 3 players who can make a big difference whether that is good enough to win the all-ireland or not i am not sure. I would imagine that with the inclusion of a couple of real leaders the majority of the team would play with more confidence and as a result much better. I am thinking that we need a real full back and centre back. We currently do not have either. Possibly if the current no. 3 was at 6 he could become that player we need. We also need a number 11 but and until he returns from Brisbane we won't have one.

I think SOS and MCG will become a very good midfield partnership that will be a match for anyone. If MCG can add some pounds so he can stand his ground he would be as good as any midfielder in the country.

So to answer you're questions.

I can't rightly say what JOM is doing wrong because I dont know what instructions/coaching he is giving to the players, but for some reason he is persisting with certain players in positions that are not able for it. The league was the chance to try something completely different but the team has not changed a whole lot since last year.

You are right about not having the players to win the A.I. If half the cork team fecked off altogether we would be in with a good chance though.

Very disappointed after yesterdays performance. I was very annoyed at some of the players particularly Liam O'Malley, Trevor Howley, Tom Parsons and Trevor Mortimer. However after thinking about it today it's hard on the players to. I blame the management team for this particular collapse.

I would love to ask JOM why Tom Parsons was allowed to continue for so long with his head down not in the right frame of mind at all. Getting frustrated and standing off instead of getting stuck in.

Trevor Howley got the run around two weeks ago from O'Connor and the same happened yesterday. He doesn't play centre back for knockmore yet JOM persists with him here even though it's clear he is not able for it. He is a fine player but not in this position by the looks of things.

It's the Same with Liam O'Malley. JOM may not have many options from the bench but there is never a plan B when it comes to Liam. I think back to the Derry match a couple of years ago when he was left to mark Bradley for the entire game even though he was being destroyed. I don't know if there is a place for him on the team.

In fairness to JOM this time he did remove Trevor Mortimer but what I would like to know is why he is allowed to do the same things over and over again. The manager  should be able to sort this out.

Finally, the game was over after 10 mins of the second half. What was the point in bringing 3 lads in with a few mins to go. It drives me mad to see that.

Well done Sligo. I thought the inside forwards were very good on the ball, scoring from distance is nice to see. Kelly and Brehony will be a handful for any full back line in the country. Great attitude and huge work rate all over the field.

No that was two years ago. It seems that its true about a leopard not changing its spots. Well in JOM's eyes anyway

He is from Crossmolina parish RGS. He went to school in the Moygownagh parish and played with his friends I suppose. I still feel Benson would offer more to mayo. He will score alot more, knows where the goal is and equally good off both feet.  He is also very aggressive in a good way. Badly needed if ya ask me.

Kelly was midfield for Ballagh, Cafferty was a sub for Cross!!!!
Would like to see Joe Keane, Freeman and Gibbons in there alright though. Are any of those lads are playing Sigerson?

Caff's involvment this year was limited until he finished his leaving cert. He picked up an injury during the summer but came on against Knockmore in the semi final, so that would explain why he was only a sub. He will be the best player cross will have for a long time.
Joe keane is not playing sigerson and it seems Benson is not the sort of player JOM wants around the place.(maybe they had a disagreement) He offers alot more than the likes of mark ronaldson or mikey sweeney though.

Team for FBD
K O'Malley/ R Hennelly
Joe Keane / E O Reilly
Alan Feeney / K Keane
Kevin Mcloughlin / D Geraghty
Chris Barrett / D Vaughan
David Kilcullen / L O Malley
Shane Nally / J Burke
James Kilcullen / J Cafferty
Seamus O'Shea / J Gibbons
Aidan Campbell  / R Haran
Aidan O Shea / A Walsh
Cathal Freeman / M Mullins
Brian Benson / M Ronaldson
Alan Freeman / B Regan
Neil Douglas  / E Varley

Good stuff. How many of these will be available for Mayo in the FBD? A lot will be playing for colleges? Sometimes you d wonder about the FBD and how chaotic the new year is with Sigerson and the U21 championship coming up as well. There is really not much opportunity to blood new players at senior level especially as every national league game is crucial to survive in div1.

James Caff won't be available unless he leaves college and I doubt Joe Keane will accept an invitation to join the panel.

There was a similar story in Donegal last week.

The thing I dont understand both sightings were predicted by a clairvoyant, and yet no one who went brought a camera or anything?

You're friend from crossmolina (ly.i.t) has a video clip on his phone. Text him and he will send it to ya

Congrats to Knockmore. No complaints from me. The better team won. It would be nice to see KON when a county final, He was the difference today.

They'll probably force us to go into the stand so we can suffer and get cold like last Sunday.

Your right there. What will it be like in March in the driving rain. It was fairly bitter there for a while on Sunday
