apart from the questions over the partner decision in this does anyone know if it's free or what - looks to me like you will only be able to view if you are a paid up subscriber to the Sun online edition (don't know how much that costs and no intention of finding out) or via the Sun app which i hear is 4.49 per Month ? anyone know if that's the way it works ? a bit rich for many GAA fans I expect if that's the case

the players being the focus of attention get most of the blame or plaudits here but there is one other factor at play that seems to passing by unnoticed.
The one noticable difference I see from last year is on the sideline. Last year Cian O'Neill had the players on their toes all the time, motivating them and exerting his influence on and off the pitch. It's the mindset and 'fire in the belly' bit and by comparison this year seems to be missing that so far. The team that played in Croke Park on Sunday was missing a few players but it wasn't a weak team. there just seems to be that little bit of lack of confidence across the team (off load a scoring chance, take a point instead of going for goal, sloppy hand and foot passes and so on). I worry getting all the missing players back won't work unless the mental bit -  sharpness and mindset - is upped a few notches - and that's the bit the mentors need to take action on or take the blame...... just sayin .....
Mayo are not far away but looking at the Dublins and Donegals who have won Sam in last few years the one thing that made them different was the determination to win, work rate and confidence. We had it last year but seems to have slipped back this year so far .... let's hope it's only temporary !

GAA Discussion / Re: Great GAA Families

Probably mentioned already but the Donnellans of Galway - 3 Generations with All Ireland winners medals but what reminded me was reading this account yesterday about the mixed emotions the family experienced in teh All Ireland win of 1964.
http://videogaagaa.blogspot.com/2011/09/on-this-day-1964-triumph-and-tragedy.html

And the Brogans of Dublin - double representation for the Dubs in the 70's with Bernard Snr and brother Jim, 3 sons in this years panel .... and Padraic , a first cousin of Bernard Snr,  who was an outstanding player with Mayo in 70's and 80's (and I think ended up playing a year with Donegal in 1991) and who scored one of the best goals ever in Croke Park, against Dublin as it happens,  in 1985

GAA Discussion / Re: The Committee Room

We all know what happens in Committee Rooms - SFA except waffle and talking around things and pretending to be doing real stuff.  That is waht RTE have called it and it lives up to its name with the perfect chairman in place if that's what they think we want to see! It's like a bad radio chat show on TV. An absolute load of rubbish.
hope TV3's new GAA Show starting at midnight tonight is better with a proper review of matches and action.

This one isn't obvious or easy to find but might have some useful records
http://www.kilkennygaa.ie/page/Resources
Download THE KILKENNY GAA BIBLE - it's 270 pages long and granted the first 140 pages are all about Kilkenny but the rest has all the national football and hurling winners - club, junior, minor, senior , railway cup and so onn

Any good GAA DVDs out for christmas?

haven't seen them but heard some ads on the 'wireless' that sounded like there are 8 or 10 full length football and hurling matches released on DVD this year. The Tipp v Galway hurling match would be my choice of a great match to watch again !

"Flash Forward" to Saturday night 6th Feb - no floodlights on and with darkness all around will the blue seats still be visibly blue and will the pillars interfere with your line of vision ? just wondering ??

QuoteTotal contradiction. You can't be the most gifted player of all time with one foot. For anyone to suggest Mc Donald was better than Fitz- really says a lot for their football knowledge.
wasn't there another code where a swarthy citog was voted best player of all time?
and Dan carter isnt much cop with his right peg either

I suggest you watch the All-Blacks or the Crusaders sometime- he used it twice on Saturday night for example.
Is anyone seriously suggesting Mc donald is in the same class as
Matt Connor, Fitzgerald, Stevie O Neill, Linden or Canavan
. All of them were and are in the genius category.

Answer - Yes - all of the above !!!
