Corkscrew and his unfounded theory post deleted plus any replies.

Clifford always looks pained, a bit like Andy Murray always looked like he was near collapsing in the tennis.  Other guys never look like they even break a sweat, Federer in tennis being an example maybe?

the likes of this post is as bad as anyone on the 'other side' that you deride posts and serves no purpose other than petty point scoring.

A petty point scoring thread is what we have now - deeler is spot on.

These little mini-feuds, while not at a personal level yet, could explode at any time.  J70 and gmac seem to delight in jabbing the other side - and the other side takes no notice whatsoever.  Eamonn jumps in whenever the baby is asleep I suppose and a few others post rarely.  Although whitey has resurfaced again to bring another voice.  I suppose two on the left and two on the right is balanced...but the extreme examples used to score petty points do not present a normal, balanced debate.

But some day, someone will cross the line - that's what always happens.  Then we will lose some posters for ever due to necessary bans.

So I'm wondering if the thread should be locked for a while?

Or could we ask the petty point kickers to take a month off...they hardly deserve bans, but the thread is a tiresome read nowadays.

If they could learn to quote just the post they are concerned about, rather than all 22 in the "conversation".   Most should know that replying to the last post does not mean you have to quote it...although I'd love a "quote one post only" rule, but that seems not possible in the type of forum we are in.

I know it's easy to say that we should just ignore the thread, but this is a discussion board and this thread is not anywhere near a discussion.

What say ye?

Let's try not to name names here, no matter how well informed a poster might be on this matter.

Of course, posting a link to a reputable source with names is allowed.

Thanks.

Moved this from Tayto and Zoo thread as topic worthy of its own thread...

you said "this highly infectious disease doesn't effect them" after I pointed out that there was a baby in intensive care FFS.

Your big, beefy, masculine balls must be taking all the blood that's meant to be going to your brain.
you do know a big percentage of people are picking up covid in hospitals.Even the bbc and rte propaganda machines could not deny this. Also Pissy, any mention whether the mother was vaccinated or not as you well know miscarriages are through the roof for vaccinated expectant mothers.
gonna ban myself sheeple.Try to get out from behind the sofa now won,t you.Pissy they are doing a 2 for 1 deal in argos for mattress protectors. Now try not to blame the unvaccinated too much when the shit hits the fan come winter.Maybe the only thing that wakes a few of you up.

This should result in a permanent ban.
Totally agree.

We have contributors here talking shite about football and hurling when they haven't the first clue about what they are on about.  But that's fine because its a GAAboard and it isn't life and death.

However, the moderators SHOULD NOT be allowing this board to be used as an platform for spreading the kind of of crazy lies that are discouraging people from vaccinating themselves against a disease that continues to kill people.

Your wish is granted.

Warning issued to the poster as well.

Who over 16 quotes 15 posts and a photograph in one go FFS?

You actually counted. Wow
Tp be fair that is a brutal  it of quoting there. You'd get square eyes looking at it.

Tried a bit editing there, but failed...on to next page hopefully.

I'd love a feature where only one post can be quoted.

The amount of absolute shite polluting this board is ridiculous.    I see no need to be starting threads like this and I see no need for anyone to be replying to them to be keeping them going.  The mods should be deleting crap like this and removing the posters whose interest in GAA is clearly dwarved by their interest in politics and other such shite.

This is a GAA Board.  Excluding the county sections, more than half of the posts are on the General Discussion rather than on the GAA Discussion. Perhaps understandable given lockdown.  But lockdown is now over and we can now enjoy our football and hurling again.

If you want to do politics go to Stormont, the Dail or feck off to Boards.ie.  If you want to do religion go to the chapel, church or go and read Richard Dawkins.  Do not bring it in here,

You are probably correct...although no rules have been broken.

This thread has probably run its course, so I'll lock it before it descends into something we don't need.

Don't even think about bringing the Old IRA v PIRA thread discussion here.

Are the board moderators going to censor the discussion if it doesn't agree with their agenda?

No.

So a select cabal of posters can try and pollute every thread by talking about the PIRA but when they do that, other posters are then disallowed from posting about the old IRA?

Hardly seems fair that Rossfan, Dublin7, Trailer and co are allowed spam threads with their agenda driven nonsense without any consequences.

As long as posters follow the rules on posting, there will be no consequences.  It might be nonsense in your head, but that doesn't mean they should be censured.

General discussion / Feuds between Posters
May 16, 2021, 03:00:29 AM
To start off, here is the Rule from the top of the page:

'Feuds'.

On occasion, two or more posters become fixated with annoying each other, without necessarily descending into personal abuse per se.

However this behaviour is very disruptive to whatever thread it breaks out it, and causes threads to be taken over by tit for tat insults.

In a case such as this, a moderator may post a public and private warning for both posters to completely ignore the other, refraining from referring to, directing comments at, or answering the other poster.

Disregarding this warning will result in a ban.

   Penalties - 1st offence after warning - 2 Days, 2nd Offence - 10 Days, Subsequent Offences - Recurring 15 Day bans.

Next, I must take responsibility for not stepping into the now-locked thread much earlier (by a matter of days, not hours).  If matters were under a bit more moderation, feelings might not have run as high (maybe, but who knows?).

Posters need to be aware that engaging with fellow posters using some terms that are belittling is usually the start of something bigger, this is how feuds begin.

I'd prefer not to use examples, but they are there for all to see.  By the way, there is a big difference between commenting that "your post shows your ignorance of matters" and "your post shows you to be an ignoramus".

It is also interesting to note very few posts reported - although I was amused to see one poster report a post of his own!

The locked topic did indeed provide some education to the younger members, hopefully, but it spiralled quickly...it should have been locked much earlier.

For now, I feel bans are not called for as I failed to step in early enough.

But be aware that any resurrecting of old feuds (the most recent being between Angelo and Sid Waddell) will result in a ban as stated above..."both posters to completely ignore the other, refraining from referring to, directing comments at, or answering the other poster.".

Any new feud will be added to this thread.

Help me out here by keeping things on topic - especially on those topics that are close to the heart.

Thanks.

I'll be back later on.

I did not follow threads closely this week, but a quick glance shows an old feud was reborn, with direct quotes from the original feud resurfacing.

Appropriate action will follow.
