Anyone following the craic with ACS Law being hacked, it made my day when I seen it on the news this morning. 
I feel sorry for those who's details have been leaked but the fact that hackers have now left the firm open for a massive fine and investigation is just brilliant!

Summary:
ACS Law were gathering information on downloaders and have apparently been forcing people to pay up for their downloads of face prosecution...
Hackers got in to their system and leaked information of people and the company's private emails on pirate bay
ACS law in the shit 

and you're starving....what's the thing you go for......

for me it's sausage (if at home) or bacon sandwiches

If you get an extra payment in your salary - one off and as a result the tax is f**king ridiculous! what way does it work.
I'm told that the robbing bastards will have assumed that's your new salary and adjusted your tax but when they realise the following month that you actually don't earn that every month you get it back.

Here, almost everyone when introducing themselves don't use their first name, they're "Mrs Smith" "Mr Jones" etc and it gets on my f**king nerves!
What is the point! Why wouldn't you use your first name? To me, if someone does that they are being a snobby f**ker and they're almost requiring you to refer to them as Mrs Smith or Mr Jones (I met a Mrs Topliss last week but that's off topic).
I instantly find it very hard to like them. I would NEVER introduce myself, to anyone, as Mr ____________. 

I've a feeling it's more of an English thing but does anyone here do it and if so, why?!  I want to hear your justification.

Interesting, on one hand you'd have to think it is not a good idea for drug addicts to not reproduce.

anyone watching this tonight? Heard them on about it on the TV this morning - I can't wait to see how the wasters get on in a jobs!

I'm exhausted, never did I think I'd see the day when I'm sick fighting.  I've had some memorial battles with BT but it's Virginmedia that broke my spirit. 

As I ranted on the grinds thread I was using their broadband and telephone service no complaints until last week they cut off the phone.  After dozens of phone calls to them, about 35-45 quid spent on a mobile phone (no joke) ringing them and emails to them telling them to get the phone connected back  I got a text today saying "sorry you're leaving us, you're broadband service has been canceled". What!  I've talked to almost everyone in every department and apart from 1 or 2 what a useless pack of c***ts.  and for the first time in my life, which may come as a surprise to some considering the moaning and complaining I do on here, I made a complaint. I was a hour on the phone to them tonight trying to just get connected again, no one wanted to know! Never did I see a company that's not interested in customers!

anyway, very long story short - from what I can gather they've canceled my account because they think the address is wrong. A boy that came round about getting the cable installed last week made a mistake on the form he put in for me and it's snowballed from there.  They claim my account is cancelled and the telephone and broadband has been disconnected.

Sneaky thing is, the broadband is still working...I did tell several of them today that it's still working, they think it's disconnected but no one cared. 

So, do I continue using, will they find out? Will I get a massive bill in about 12 months because God knows how they're charging me for it....or maybe it'll stop working in a few days anyway 

Apart from the GAA, and even sports. what sort of hobbies do yous have...anyone in to anything weird or interesting (not sexual related)?

I'm in to movies/tv and video games as you'd get from my posts, but also enjoy sailing (which I don't get to do very much anymore) and ten pin bowling (no sniggering!).  Would love to learn more about photography too...

As far I can gather I should be entitled to one now with being laid off, got a bit extra in final pay packet too and I've been raped by the f**kers!!

I understand they'll automatically look in to it when I apply for dole but will I get it now or will I have to wait until the end of the financial year?

So I'm soon to be unemployed   

I've only ever been unemployed once before, for a couple of months and you think it's going to be alright, all the free time to do the things you want, but it's not! It's awful!  I'm thinking the holiday period will end after a couple of days and boredom will strike so I need suggestions on filling my day and my new found free time. 
 
I'm determined not find myself sitting on the couch, in my boxers, watching "cash in the attic", eating cornflakes and wallowing in self pity at 4 oclock in the day.  Obviously some time will need to be spent on answering bullshit questions on application forms for jobs I'm completley unsuited or over qualified for just so that I can have a small glimmer of hope in my dark tunnell, only to have my hopes dashed when the days and weeks past and I never hear from anyone. 

Then I'll have to spend some time answering the phone from supposedly well meaning family and friends enquiring if I've found a job, as if I wouldnt think of telling them if I had! and from various contacts who never have any good news on the work front and seem to think giving me a list of everyone I know who is unemployed is some sort of comfort.  Then I'll need to set aside some time each day to feel sorry for myself and yous think I'm grumpy now......

...but after that what the hell am I going to do all day every day!!

Do any of you have any experience on getting a trade union established in the workplace?

A friend works in a place where there's maybe 60 or so employees and for a number of reasons they're desperate to get something going as they're basically being shit on (more so than most employees in these times). 
Apparently they're trying to arrange a meeting with some boy who can organise representation for them. 

It's all top secret because this place has been known to single out individuals who would speak up and bully them/"discipline" them until they leave/are dismissed and there seems to be quite a fear that anyone caught organising something like this will go the same way.

Just wondered had any experience/offer any advice I could pass on, good idea? bad idea?

The Home Secretary is to pay back parliamentary allowances claimed for pay-per-view television services, reportedly including two adult films.

Jacqui Smith said she "mistakenly" claimed for the TV package while billing for an internet connection.

The Sunday Express claims the £67 Virgin Media bill included two 18-rated features viewed last April.

Ms Smith was not home when the films were viewed, sources told the BBC. She lives with her husband, Richard Timney.

The Home Secretary is already under investigation by the parliamentary commissioner for standards over her use of the second homes allowance.

'Ear-bashing'

BBC political correspondent, Gary O'Donoghue, said a source told him Ms Smith was "livid and shocked" when she found out about the two adult films.

He said he was told Ms Smith had not been at home when they were viewed and said she had no intention of resigning over the matter.


Mr O'Donoghue said he was told Ms Smith had given her husband, who is also her parliamentary assistant, a "real ear-bashing".

The bill was submitted last June as part of Ms Smith's expenses, the Sunday Express reported.

The two films, which cost £5 each, were viewed on 6 and 8 April 2008.

It was also said to include two viewings of the film Ocean's 13 - at £3.75 each - and an additional £3.50 to watch the film Surf's Up.

The films were viewed at her constituency home in Redditch, Worcestershire.

The Committee on Standards in Public Life has announced a wide-ranging review of MPs' pay and allowances, starting later this year.

It came after Prime Minister Gordon Brown wrote to the committee calling for a full review into "outside interests" and second jobs.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband told the BBC's Andrew Marr show: "Jacqui Smith is doing an outstanding job as Home Secretary... what I know is that the system has to be much, much clearer than it was in the past.

"That's the purpose of the reforms that are being put into place.

"The system has to be clear, above all in the interests of the public, so they can have trust and confidence."

Jacqui Smith said in a statement: "I'm sorry that in claiming for my internet connection, I mistakenly claimed for a television package alongside it.

"As soon as the matter was brought to my attention, I took immediate steps to contact the relevant parliamentary authorities and rectify the situation.

"All money claimed for the television package will be paid back in full."

Last month Ms Smith was criticised for claiming taxpayer-funded allowances for a second home while living with her sister.

But she insisted she had "fully abided" by the rules because she had designated her sibling's house as her "main" residence.

That allowed her to claim payments on the Redditch constituency home she shares with her husband and children.

Conservative MP Mark Field told the BBC: "I'm obviously glad Jacqui Smith has decided to act quickly and repay, I'd also like her to act as quickly and repay the second home allowances that she's also taken.

"She says it's all within the rules, which I'm sure is right... but the reality is it's not within the spirit of the rules.

"If she doesn't recognise that I think she's really a bit too stupid to be Home Secretary."

He added there were a number of Tory MPs also abusing the system, which he said undermined parliament's reputation.

Meanwhile, parliament's standards commissioner John Lyon is investigating a complaint about Labour minister Tony McNulty's second home expenses.

The work minister has claimed £60,000 since 2002 for the house in his Harrow constituency - 11 miles from the Commons - where his parents live.

He has said he did not break any rules.
