GAA Discussion / Arrivederci negative football

What do we reckon,  the blanket defence inc 1, maybe 2 sweepers is a thing of the past?
Reading some comments from various posters from a few different counties, some are thinking that come championship time, we'll pack the defence and be grand. Cant see it myself for several reasons:

* If this was the case, surely now is the time (half way through the league programme) to fine tune tactics for the championship?? Whats the use of playing open 15 v 15 football now and then rolling out the untested championship game plan come May / June?

* Packing the defence will lead to more players picking up black cards. Less space, more collisions etc. Managers are wise to this. Open football with teams conceding big scores isnt being facilitated by counties for the love of the game. Its all about scoring more than the opposition and defending with as much discipline as possible, turning the ball over as clean as possible and forcing unforced errors without picking up any cards (ie skilful tackling as opposed to 4/5/6 men swarming a player with sheer muscle and pressure causing the turnover)

* Rolling out the old guard to shore up the defence come championship time. Cant see it. Its the year of the forward and to counter act this, teams need lightning fast mobile defenders to keep tabs on them. Older, slower defenders will be hung to dry in the wide open spaces on firm summer pitches

As one of the commentators on Cork 103 said on Sunday, "the black card is putting manners in these defenders boi"

Really looking forward to this one

Hoping someone might have some experience in this field. Looking for software that I could input company stock  / types (mabe codes against each item), print out invoices for customers, new and repeat customers. Would like something that you could easily see what is the best / worst sellers at a glance and a history of sales. Hope this makes sense. Would Sage be capable of doing the stock side of things? There seems to be a plethora of stuff out there, but if anyone has any recommendations from experience, that would be class

thanks in advance

GAA Discussion / Donegal...the next chapter?
August 05, 2013, 10:04:41 AM
It nearly felt wrong watching the 2nd half of the match yesterday. A mighty fall for the Donegal men. Like them or loathe them, you have a group of very dedicated men who put their lives on hold for 3 years and gave everything for the cause. I was a big critic of their ultra-defensive style when they first burst back onto the main stage under the guidance of Jim McGuinness. They hit the wall badly on Sun. The writing was on the wall after the Ulster final. They brought home a 2nd AI to the North-West which was a very welcome distraction for the good people of an economically ravaged employment black spot. Where now for Donegal? Does Jim stay on? Does the limited squad put the shoulder to the wheel for another tilt? Or do they wilt back into the wilderness? Will be an interesting year 2014 for the Donegal men and their football mad supporters

wee bit of advice please

If a man tenders his resignation, can he then retract it within a certain amount of time and its 'as you were'? The resignation had not been accepted or rejected when the retraction was emailed. Time between resignation and retraction = 24hrs

General discussion / the Choice Music Award

2 Door Cinema Club just announced as winners and very worthy winners indeed. Giving the winning cheque to charity which is a very nice touch.

Great shortlist this year, some great music coming out of Ireland @ the minute. O Emperor, Villagers, Cast of Cheers etc and long may it continue.

Gonna make an effort to get down to this next year, Today FM done a fine job, live from Vicar St for 4 hours. Sounded like a fierce night
