Yugoslavia was a mix of Croatian and Serb players. So was RSB. Croatia kicked on. Serbia did not, for whatever reason.

Not really. Prosinecki was half Serbian and born outside Yugoslavia. Him aside there were never many Croats playing in Belgrade.

As has been pointed there were a lot more that Croats and Serbians in the 92 Yugoslav team. Few enough Croats in or around the squad in 92.
