I read in that report Messi was giving off about the ref! The ref bottled giving him a simple yellow for deliberate handball. Which would have been a red at the end as he received a card late on.  Those frees at the end were easy calls also..

The ref ( even the odd time my wife watched the game said  he was over dramatic) was brutal for both, how a red card wasn't shown at the end is beyond me, reacting to the subs during the game also was daft.

As for VAR, was it used at all? The penalty was very soft I thought

Dumfries was given a red after the shootout.

Penalty was as clear as day, I thought.

As much as I've loved watching Messi over the years the eulogising of him from the pundits is getting hard to listen to. Great pass for the goal.He went awol when the Dutch turned up the heat. He should have been getting on the ball  to take some pressure off.

they were at it during the game and during the penalties too. Good enugh for the Dutch. Im glad Argentina won. Hope they win the whole thing
