Quote from: armaghniac on January 27, 2025, 10:19:40 AMThere was a club in the midlands on RTÉ which had a generator for its floodlights and it had wired it into the clubhouse and they were providing showers, hot food, phone charging etc.A club in Down was being used for people to call in and use as shelter for phone charging, showers, water etc. My own club had their power off but they have a large diesel generator for the floodlit pitch. Makes me wonder why they didn't spend a bit of extra money to get the clubhouse itself wired into it for emergencies
This is a useful model and the GAA should work with authorities to promote this idea as a general concept for an emergency.

That averages out at about 40 seconds per man. Sure what'd you get done in that time?![]()
What would you want to do w/ a yoke like that?!
Quote from: Puckoon on January 13, 2025, 06:42:30 PMThoughts on the keeper? Had a great game, could he be pushing for the number 1 spot?I think you could see in the first half he was still reeling from the dodgy spurs game. His kicking was all over the place even under no pressure off the deck. The pen save seemed to have rebirthed him into a monster. Could be the bit of fire in him now that he needs to push on and compete with Onana. I see the value in a club having a strong 2nd choice keeper for cup games
Quote from: Cunny Funt on January 12, 2025, 04:40:14 PMThe equalizer was the first effort on target for Arsenal in the game, from a set piece and keeper error and moments after a red card for Dalot. That minute alone sums up United's season. And deflected
Quote from: lurganblue on December 31, 2024, 08:53:56 AMI didnt watch this game as I was subjecting myself to another Villa collapse, but surely most united fans knew a result was unlikely here?By the looks of some reports January won't be bringing much in the way of reinforcement as usual for United who don't tend to typically do much in the winter window. I think the big thing for Amorim will be getting the players on the training pitch. He said in interview last night he's only had 4 training sessions with the players since joining because of the fixture load
Newcastle are going well at the minute. Scoring plenty of goals. They are currently a level above that united team.
Lets see what January brings for the new manager before judgement starts proper.
Quote from: Blowitupref on December 26, 2024, 06:45:37 AM20 years ago today. Indian Ocean tsunami which claimed an estimated 230,000 lives. The death toll affected more than 60 countries including four Irish tourists lost their lives.Still very eerie watching videos of people standing at the beach watching the water pull back out to sea not knowing what was actually coming their way
Dublin woman Eilis Finnegan, a 27-year-old United Airlines air hostess, died in Thailand.
Ms Finnegan, from Ballyfermot, was on the beach in the Phi Phi islands with her boyfriend Barry Murphy (29) from Castleknock in Dublin when the tsunami struck.
The other three Irish victims of the tsunami also died in Thailand.
Lucy Coyle (28), an accountant from Killiney, Co Dublin; student Michael Murphy (23) from Knockbawn, Blackwater, Co Wexford and Conor Keightley (31) from Cookstown, Co Tyrone were killed as the giant wave struck without warning.
Quote from: 03,05,08 on December 09, 2024, 02:39:32 PMDo kilcoo have good youth coming through?I wouldn't say they'd be blessed with the same underage success as the likes of Burren and Carryduff in recent years but they always seem to be able to add a couple of new faces to the panel every year

Sort of miss it a bit having a few drinks whilst building f**king toys til about 2am
Remember passing up Smyths Store charging €10 to assemble two Bicycles (€20 in all). Jez, it must have been 3am before I got them near being okay!
