Most managers do, Antrim have done well at Corrigan and we have to win games there to stay up, teams above us are building for championship we are always about securing status in div 1 that's the reality

Disappointing result. But now on to the next one. Its going to take time, but with everyone sticking at it we'll get there. Maintaining status in 1B will be aim this year which I think we'll do. Blooding a few new guys in the panel and getting used to a new system of play etc.. all going to take a while. I see Carlow Offaly finished a draw also. Big loss for Wexford against Cork in 1A too.

Wexford missing about 60% of their first team due to injury and player unavailability, Lee Chin in Australia, Conor McDonald injured.

I have a feeling Davy will be telling us for quite a while he needs "time" to implement his "system".

Predicted the 14 point score difference (lucky guess) ... but just couldn't see where the scoring threat was gonna come from.

With one of our best injured we are lacking high scoring forwards.

Haven't seen highlights yet, so can't comment but we can't afford to be missing anyone

But, that said, Dublin are physically a big fecking team, they have a bitta steel and craft about them and I like the cut of their new manager.

Dublin will do well in this league

Think some of you missing the point about where the scores are coming from and high scoring forwards.

It's not as if the players last night had loads of chances (the team isn't far off the strongest 15) and these unnamed players would have been firing them over.

We are vastly inferior to Dublin at the minute, we would have been on the back foot and Davy also sacrificed one of the forwards to play further out the field.

Coby obviously missed but if he was playing last night I doubt he gets more than two or three points from play. And that's no slight on him

That was as bad as I've seen in a while from us.

We were all over the place and tactically its really hard to understand what we were at.

Playing a sweeper back who didn't sweep or cut off the supply to their most dangerous full forward.

The best full back and man marker we have playing in the half back line being by-passed while we got ate alive in the full forward line.

No press on their puck out or any shape to attacking play. I get it it's the first game but there are red flags all over the performance.

Antrim Coaster

That was a hard watch on Saturday night.

Antrim were completely rudderless.

It looked like musical positions with players switching positions every so often. Eoghan Campbell was playing in the half forward line at one stage and hardly seen much of the ball.

Different players faded in and out of the match.

Paddy Burke and James McNaughton came out with any pass marks.

Niall O'Connor was deployed from the full forward line to sweep up at the back, which didn't work as Dublin cut through the Antrim defence at will.

The match ended up as a glorified challenge match with Antrim offering very little resistance in the end.

An awful lot of work is required but its early days and championship matches aren't won in the last week of January but as NAG1 has highlighted a few red flags all over that performance.

The Westmeath match next week is a must win.

I haven't seen the highlights (unfortunately RTE access is limited) but from the team named on Friday I had concerns that Davy was going with a sweeper. After all he named O'Connor as a forward.
It's his MO and not something I think Antrim can succeed with, especially now teams are so well versed to adapting and playing against this tactic which originated a long time ago.

Based on the reports the defenders appeared to be lost on who to mark at times and they even had 1 in the full forward line for portions of the game.

Finally a friend suggested travel home for the squad was almost as bad as the performance.

Heard that the beaten Ulster Intermediate Finalists were looking to gain entry into the ACHL's.  And that Loughgeil are proposing a one way league.  Not sure if that's a one way league with the split but I assume they're looking a one way league without the split

Have they decided where the Faughs are playing this year?

I believe Faughs are still pushing to get into Div2.

A one way league would mean only 9 games whereas the 2024 format was one way (9 games) and then the split (4 games) 13 in total.

Why reduce the number of games?
