Conor McCann retired. Great servant to Antrim hurling and a real workhorse. Not many from south west make it to senior setup so he had to take the hard route but didn't seem to phase him.

I see Gregory O'Kane has stepped down as Dunloy manager.  I would imagine given their pool of talent there will be no shortage of candidates to be his successor.

Quote from: marty34 on November 12, 2024, 07:06:50 PMCushendall, as champions, will be favourites to regain their senior crown. SN need to up their scoring power. With a lot of big guns (OLG's, St. Thomas' and Shamrocks Ballyhale gone, will Cushendall take their eye off the ball?

Best game of the week-end could be Swatragh V Bredagh. Two evenly match teams in my opinion. Swatragh had a tough battle with Lisbellaw the last time out as well as the Derry 'Intermediate' Final V Kevin Lynch's. That should stand to them.
Bredagh are similar and are coming good at the right time. They're experienced so there should be fireworks in Ahoghill.

My sources in Derry (not SN) say that SN didn't need to play their first team in the Derry championship and will put it up to the Dall with a lot of quality younger lads coming through since last year.
Whether that's enough I don't know, but what I do know is that Portaferry feel they left the game behind them and are busting themselves to make amends with whoever comes out of that game.

I'd not rule the Ports out as I think young McGrattan has found a new lease of life on the 45, and like the two Sands brothers, Turpin have serious pace to match their hurling. They'll take some watching.

Slaughtneil have done just enough to get through in the Derry SHC so far without having to shift her into fifth.

Lynches are really their main threat in Derry and they appear to have regressed this past few years.

In the Derry final Banagher set up to stop Slaughtneil who went about their business as required.

Co McEldowney's lad, Fionn, has slotted in at No 4. Not one bit shy to get stuck in at the rucks, has a good turn of speed about him along with a nice strike. Conor Coyle played in the reserve hurling championship - stepped up to the plate v Lynches in the semi final at centre back.

Mickey McShane would have played lads who were good enough regardless of age, Ruairi O'Mianain for example and it would appear the current management are pursuing the same policy.

Cushendall not afraid of throwing their young guns into the mix either and along with the Burkes, Scott Walsh in the back line adding an element of stability plus the experience of Eoghan Campbell, Neil McManus, Ryan McCambridge this could be an epic tussle.

For me its too close to call and Slaughtneil wont be one bit worried about the supposed underdog tag.

Awful time of the night to be playing a hurling match and one thing is for certain is that hurling can not and should never be played under lights.

Bad news about Darren Gleeson, stepped down from Laois job after being diagnosed with cancer
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

That's awful, have met him a few times and a likeable bloke, hurling mad, passionate, and improved Antrim hurling during his tenure

I wish him the best during this difficult time

That's awful. Hope it all works out for him. Still think a lot of people don't realise how good a job he actually did with us.

Cushendall doing well not to be getting hammered here. Not looking good for them at all.

Milltown Row2

This is impressive stuff from S'neil giving  Cushendall their fill of it.

McManus is a one man team at times..

If S'neil keep up this intensity and accuracy they'll run out winners with a bit to spare.

Not sure how they fix this. The spare man for S'niel is doing better than Cushendalls

The big midfielder Cassidy is different gravy too. Rodgers point out under the stand was so good
