Cargin were a complete mess yesterday, easily there worst performance in the Ulster club yet. Didn't make a game of it at all. Their first problem was their keeper, I simply lost count of the amount of short kickouts he refused to take, the amount of times I saw players on the corner of the D free by a 3 or 4 metres and he hadn't the balls to give was shocking. I saw Michael Mc Cann there twice and the keeper didn't even trust him, or more importantly himself to give that short to gain possession. And this was the platform that put Cargin into all sorts of problems as the kickout went long with no bodies around for the breaks, due to players making runs for shorts and then couldn't get to break ball position in time. Secondly their half back line with the exception of Sean O Neill were unable to support the play to break lines, resulting in minimal threat. There is no doubt that the lost of Paul McCann at chb and Gerard Mc Cann at mf for his ball winning ability, on top of Benen Kelly being injured (why isn't he starting all the time with his mobility) were heavy losses for Cargin as the players replacing them are not as good. Thirdly the amount of ball Cargin coughed up under no pressure in the first 15 mins for me was a symptom of a team that has lost alot of games in this competition and there was no genuine belief in themselves

Quote from: bannside on September 26, 2024, 10:39:01 PMCreggans appeal is with Ulster and will be heard 2moro night.

The outcome will be either to take the game to rematch (probably next Tuesday or Wednesday) or throw it out, in which case Saturdays semi final between PG1 and LD goes ahead as scheduled in Toome at 4pm on Saturday.

Its very telling you're only interested in whats said to a linesman who has broken rules, refuses to inform the ref he has broken a rule with a major negative outcome, that would have saved the ref his blushes as well as how this impacts two gaa communities. I see you know and I really don't like what I see. Total snake. Good riddance

Clear as day, leading to the score, Creggan pleading with the linesman to inform the ref and apply the rules, his obnoxious condescending manner very well captured in the video

Quote from: paddyjohn on September 18, 2024, 02:11:57 PMPersonally I think Creggan should take their salt. They weren't good enough to beat LD on the day so let it go.

Again, bollox. The game was level. The extra man they had presented the opportunity in a counter attack to have an extra body we could numerically never match, hence the free player for the score.

Quote from: Gael-in-exile on September 18, 2024, 12:54:56 PMBlame the officials is an easy way out. They have 30 players on the field and an increasing amount of people on the line to manage.
Ever been a linesman in the last minute or two of a game beside a dugout?? It's chaos at times.
Anyway the responsibility of numbers on the field lies first and foremost with the team, if the officials miss something that's a mistake but they happen. If I'm a manager making a sub I know who is to come off, and with time almost up I'll be getting him out of the way quickly so as to not waste time.

What a load of balls. When the a sub is coming on, the play has stopped. They don't come on in mid play. Seriously how hard is to wait and observe the player walking off and then blow the whistle for the play to resume. Thats what the 30 ses added unto the end of game is for ffs. When the sub goes on and the player going off, its completely the official's responsibility. If you have 16 players on the filed I agree the management should tell the linesman, and maybe they did, but considering how stupid he and the ref were making such a simple mistake that has recently been highlighted at the highest level, you could excuse one for suggesting they were incompetent.

Rule was changed after that final, to the sub had to be off the field of play before play resumed.

BS I'm not a fan of those type of transfers. I accept that there nothing wrong with them. They have been happening in the city for years, but have now become common place in our area now as well. Just don't agree with it in principle. There nothing cheap in the shot. Don't think there's anything wrong with having that stance. Admired Cargin for refusing an approach in the past year to take 4/5 players.

Quote from: bannside on July 22, 2024, 06:08:34 PMAye right. Fact they live in Portglenone might have a bearing on it too, or that they only lived a couple of hundred yards across the Bann Bridge in the first place.

DK making it out they've travelled across the Atlantic lol.

BS I didn't make anything out. I stated a fact, both players played for London in last year's national league and championship, it really doesn't matter where there from, they ain't from Portglenone.

Quote from: Sportacus on July 20, 2024, 12:41:35 PMIt's good to see a strong St Brigid's team emerging.  The more teams we have at the top table the better. Congratulations on a first Division One title.

Is it though? a club winning it with organic growth like creggan and portglenone is good for the antrim game.  The St Brigids model of transfers sorting your problems.out is not.

How many senior club championships did Michael Magill win?

Don't mention the influx of London county players to Portglenone. For this reason Portglenone will be v close to the finishing line this year

Head scratcher..........

I don't think its a head scratcher, he hasn't the pace nor movement for the forward division and doesn't have the athleticism for mf at county level imo

Think it comes down to age. Younger folk won't be as familiar with he older theme and as children growing up listening to it, it will be the one you will prefer as it lives rent free in your subconscious.  Old one for me

Num 11 excellent, equally was the num 14, the amount of assists he was involved in as well as scoring was v high
