Quote from: johnnycool on March 10, 2025, 11:32:05 AMThe rise of Offaly is unreal.

I didn't expect them to gain promotion this year anyway, I'd the Dubs and Waterford a good bit ahead of them, but fair play to Duignan and all involved in the Faithful fields development and infrastructure, it seems to be paying off.

Whether that's enough for a crack at a Leinster title or AI in the next while is anyone's guess, but it's good progress.

It just goes to show you what is possible with a bit of leadership and direction.

Credit where it's due-the team delivered today when they needed to.

I felt we were that little bit more direct from the half back line which helped and the quality of the ball/decision making was so much better as compared to Waterford.

Maybe the opposition was part of the reason for that, who knows.

What a result but very long way to go in this tie.  PSG were hugely impressive last night and will rightly to go to Anfield with a lot of confidence.

In fairness the subs last night had a positive impact all round.

Felt we struggled hugely in midfield and seemed to be totally overrun, particularly down out left side.

I have always felt our level of invention/threat from set pieces is way below what it should be for a top team.  (Arsenal seem to be way ahead of others in this regard).

And so it was very pleasantly surprising to see that first goal from the corner yesterday - v well worked move.  We also defended their set pieces well I thought.

In my view yesterday was one of Konates best ever games for Liverpool.

Is there any player that has fallen off a cliff more spectacularly than De Bruyne?  He has become so bad, so quickly.

My god this is awful.  Every puck out to the same square inch with a 5pc success rate so far!  Body language is awful.

Antrim being totally outthought and outplayed.  Miles behind.  Why do we constantly play balls straight up the line, tight to sideline , making it easier for defenders.

Quote from: imtommygunn on February 03, 2025, 04:31:17 PMRef was poor enough at times but in reality we were guilty of pulling and dragging too much in the FB line. I think definitely once and maybe twice twice they might have started it but definitely hand on the back and dragging we would need to cut down on or be smarter on. Westmeath always kept the arm in when in the tackle but sure most teams do that at that level. They should have had more yellows and had a boy or two walking a tightrope towards the end but that didn't happen. Also the linesman flagged the ref who seemed to ignore him or didn't know he'd flagged and then things moved on when a boy should have been booked.

Ref wasn't fantastic but I've seen a lot worse to.

It was pretty poor stuff from the ref now.  Yellow cards weren't hard to get.

My issue it that had he been reffing limerick, cork, tipp, Clare etc and applying the same standards there would be uproar.

Hard to judge today as Westmeath were pretty poor and the ref was a disaster for the game.  Not sure who he was but some really bizarre stuff.

That said, we shouldn't scoff at a convincing win over Westmeath so credit where it's due.  Looked a lot fitter.

Next week will be a real test of where we are .

Quote from: From the Bunker on November 24, 2024, 05:04:23 PMA lot blaming VAR for not interfering for the Penalty. No way you could say it is outside from this?

According to NBC's people, the issue was the "clear and obvious" thing. Once the foul was confirmed, there wasn't clear evidence either way to overturn the ref's decision to award the penalty. Which is fair enough.

It was a dumb tackle by Robertson anyway.

It wasn't the greatest tackle in the world but WTF was Van Dyke playing at, galloping into midfield and then to back heel it to nobody?

Konate had a mare and Van Dyke wasn't great either and they still won, but there's a wobble in those two against the better teams.

Is Van Dyke 34?

Great defender, with maybe another good season in him, Liverpool won't want his wages on the books for much longer than that!

I thought the back 4 all had mares to be honest.  Bradley was like a headless chicken in Southampton's second goal.  Initially he got sucked to the left back position when he didn't need to, leaving the middle wide open, then when they switched it he got sucked in again when he didn't need to leaving the man with a free shot.  Robertsons table was dim and he was caught sleeping at one point in second half.

But a win in a win.

I would be all for resting lads against Real- it's one we can afford to lose and better doing so with a ready made excuse !

One counter argument to that is that Real are under big pressure to qualify, particularly if they don't beat us.

I see Derry representatives have made the Ulster finals at junior, intermediate and senior.

Something doesn't sit quite right with the junior and intermediate representatives. Like Ballinascreen played in the intermediate Ulster last year and this year they are junior.

Yea some strange calls alright.  Shows a lack of depth in the squad or a lack of trust by the management.

I don't say they were strange !  I think they were good calls to be honest

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on November 16, 2024, 08:46:50 PMThere wasn't any hassle the whole game between the teams, the hurling with a score of 30 each at full time is a credit to the players and the ref. Been about 5 frees the whole game!

Ok maybe 40 frees that haven't been given but who cares?

Cushendall been to the well here a few times, have they got it in their locker to see it out?

S'neil have been impressive and I expected them to be neck and neck with them but going into the final stretch thst last Rodgers miss coat them the game

Think they were complaining about the injury time but, not many stoppages in the game

Hopefully the Antrim refs take note 🧐

Huge credit to the ref who is contributing massively to a quality game ..
