Bottom line is and I said it last week was that Cargin are had to win now, good team in Antrim but does not compare to the great st galls teams of the past..
Has to be a conveyor belt come through now in Cargin, and from what I can see a reign of dominance is up for grabs

Quote from: Silver hill on November 10, 2024, 05:43:27 PMIf Cargin want to go further than first round exits in ulster every year then they have to change their approach. Way too defensively minded and only interested in containment instead of creating enough chances to actually win the game.
Errigal won pulling up because they scored 15 times and had maybe another 10-12 wides. Cargin score 8, only a few from play and less than 5 wides. That will never be good enough at that level. Handling was atrocious as well.
Completely agree they do not have the killer instinct in ulster

Quote from: EOC1923 on November 05, 2024, 02:30:37 PMAre Cargin folding at the end of this season? That's a shame 🤣

Better opportunity than ever with no Glen in the comp and Cargin's key players not getting any younger unfortunately

Quote from: NorthAntrim on September 03, 2024, 10:06:44 AMOur championships need an overhaul for next year. IHC a stand out. Groups of 5 and 6 teams. Groups starting on the 27th of July and running to the 21st of September!

What's the alternative? Half the clubs involved are dual so there needs to be an allowance for that. I think it's better this way than last year when they ended up squeezing in a Wednesday - Saturday game week while everything else was 2 week gaps across football and hurling?

alternative is have 12 teams with 4 groups of 3, top two go through, relegation playoff for last? absolute stupidity having matches that mean nothing towards the end of the group

Quote from: SaffronSports on June 21, 2024, 10:34:35 PMA boy I was talking to recently made the point that Glenravel have a lot of good footballers that play a bit of hurling whereas the hurling side maybe need it to be the other way round.

I was at the match when they won junior. They lost to Glenarm a pile of times that season including a heavy loss in the Championship groups but they came with a plan that day, executed it perfectly and completely deserved their win. I also have great admiration for them punching up and trying to maintain Intermediate status when half the county wants to drop down tiers or divisions.

Also, as I mentioned Glenarm, they had a good win tonight to win the Countess of Antrim Cup.
Agreed, Con Magees are trying their best to keep hurling alive with pressures of football. Creggan in the same boat a lot of the year, if their footballers play they could be a match for most intermediate teams

Cargin also scored a few late goals when the game was dead to put a gloss on the scoreline??

I was at it and your source has gave you a phoney account.
Listen I have seen many people comment on here within last 12 months about Bakers negative tactics, I commented something similar after watching them last night.
Ballymena scored their goal along with 3 or 4 points in the last 10 mins, Cargin were 7 points up at half time ended up scoring 6 goals, could have been 10. Just being honest.

You should have went yourself rather than rely on wee Paddy's report.
Ballymena are a well organsised team to be fair to them, just prob need to work on the fitness to keep the lung busting forward runs required up for 60mins
All hail the great glorious Cargin

The dominant force with one victory in Ulster
